Renton-based Microscan hired Scott McKay as global director in channel management and commercial marketing. He replaces Andy Zosel, former VP of marketing and commercial operations, who is taking on a new role as VP, engineering and vertical solutions. Microscan offers precision data acquisition and control solutions.

David Ebel, shareholder in the Seattle law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, joined the board of YouthForce. Ebel practices in the areas of securities, financial services and commercial disputes. YouthForce is an educational employment program for Boys & Girls Clubs of King county.
The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University created the Kathi Goertzen Excellence Fund, named for the late Murrow alumna and KOMO TV anchor who died recently after a long battle with brain tumors. The Blueline Group hired Randy LaMere as a CAD designer. LaMere has more than 30 years of experience on single-family, commercial and public works projects. Blueline provides civil engineering and land development consulting in the Pacific Northwest.




Otak promoted Lori McFarland, Kevin O'Brien, Lamoine Eiler and Anthony Gallacher to senior associate. McFarland is a senior project manager and engineer in the Kirkland office. She has 27 years of experience, and recently worked on the SE Southworth Drive bridge replacement for Kitsap County. O'Brien is a senior wildlife biologist in Kirkland. He holds a Ph.D. in ecology and has 21 years of experience in ecology, zoology and wildlife biology. He is working on watershed analyses for Shelton and Everett. Eiler is an architect and urban designer in the Lake Oswego, Ore., office. He has 31 years of experience, and has worked on master plans for three communities in Abu Dhabi. Gallacher is a chartered engineer and contracts arbitrator in the Abu Dhabi office. He has 23 years of construction experience, supervising building and civil engineering for projects in the Middle East and the United Kingdom. He is project director for the Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal project. Otak is an engineering, urban design, architecture and planning firm.

CG Engineering in Edmonds hired Amber Maechler as marketing/business development manager. Maechler has nearly a decade of experience in marketing management and creative services. She will market the firm's structural and civil engineering services.

GeoEngineers hired Hamilton Puangnak as a geotechnical engineer and Jacquelyn Weber as front desk coordinator in its Redmond office. It also hired Adam Wright as a biologist and Li Wang as a hydrogeologist in Tacoma, and Tyrone Ward and Bret Magdasy as GIS analysts in Seattle and Tacoma. GeoEngineers is an earth science, engineering and technology consulting firm headquartered in Seattle.

Paul Schlenger joined Confluence Environmental Co. as a senior fisheries biologist. His background is in marine nearshore environment, functional habitat assessment and habitat restoration, and he was a project manager for the Puget Sound Nearshore Ecosystem restoration. He is working on Puget Sound nearshore assessments. Confluence provides project management for natural resources projects.

Seattle-based Global Diving & Salvage hired Ryan Smith as general manager for its Gulf Coast regional office in Houston. Smith is responsible for daily operations as well as business development. He has more than 12 years of experience in the maritime industry, previously as vice president of shipyard representation at L&R Midland. He holds a bachelor's degree in marine engineering technology from the Maine Maritime Academy.
Global insurance brokerage Hub International Limited — whose Hub Northwest operations are based in Bothell — bought Signature Insurance Group, a Woodinville insurance broker. Dennis Boyd, Signature's president and former defensive lineman for the Seattle Seahawks, joined HUB Northwest as vice president of retail sales. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Hub Northwest specializes in construction insurance and surety bonds.
