Commercial Real Estate Women of Seattle and Sound's next meeting will look at biotech and health care growth, and the impact those industries have on local real estate at 11:30 a.m. June 13 at the Washington Athletic Club at 1325 Sixth Ave. Panelists will be Steve Eirschele of Eirschele Consulting Services; Kay Kornovich, managing principal at the Seattle office of Perkins + Will; and Scott Rusch, vice president of facilities and operations at Fred Hutchinson. The Washington chapter of NAIOP is taking nominations for the Night of the Stars Awards. The awards honor this area's top projects and transactions. They must be mostly complete between June 2012 and December 2013. Nominations are due by July 12. The awards will be presented Nov. 8 at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. HomeStreet Bank said it provided a $12.9 million loan to the owners of the Saturn, a mixed-use building in Fremont that provides incubator office space for small businesses. This is HomeStreet's third loan to a building that provides office space for small businesses. The Saturn is 93 percent occupied. It was designed by Lance Mueller and Associates of Seattle. Developer Brian Regan wants to add a model of the planet Saturn to the roof of the building.
Wells Fargo Seattle named Steve Milles senior business banking relationship manager. Milles was a financial consultant for Wells Fargo's Business Banking Group.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in Snohomish County elected new officers: Keith Binkley, president; David Hall, vice president; Laurie Ummel, secretary and Tena Kibbey, treasurer. NAMI is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for people affected by mental illness.

Golder Associates promoted Chris King and Dave Seluga to associate, and Scott Matthees and Gary Zimmerman to principal. King is a senior engineer and client manager in the Redmond office. He works with power sector clients and is leading Golder's Pacific Northwest federal projects team. Seluga works in the Portland office as a practice leader for remediation, environmental compliance and power projects. Matthees works in the Redmond office as a senior consultant specializing in construction management of mining, geological, geotechnical and environmental projects. Zimmerman is the Pacific Northwest environmental sciences division leader. managing environmental investigations and remedial actions at sites in Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii. Golder is a global ground engineering and environmental consulting firm.

Freiheit & Ho Architects hired Erica Stanbra as an architectural designer. Stanbra recently received a master of architecture degree from Florida A&M University, and holds a bachelor's in environmental studies and political science from Florida State University. Freiheit & Ho provides architecture, planning and interior design.

Group Mackenzie hired Mary Roberts as interiors project manager in the Seattle office. Roberts has more than eight years of design experience and will assist on tenant improvements, building repositioning and commercial interiors. Group Mackenzie provides architecture, interior design, structural engineering, landscape architecture, land use planning, transportation planning and civil engineering.


Community Attributes hired Diana Haring as a geosystems analyst and Elliot Weiss as a planning analyst. Haring was part of the Global Burden of Disease project for 2010, a retrospective analysis of more than 220 diseases and injuries in almost 200 countries in the past 30 years. Previously Weiss founded (your)Cities Consulting Group, specializing in urban issues, including place-making and creative class retention. Seattle-based Community Attributes provides economic strategies, spatial data analysis and urban planning.
Perkins+Will promoted and hired a number of people in the Seattle office. Ryan Bussard was promoted to design principal, Kelly Schnell, Scheer Chan, and Devin Kleiner to associate, Holly Herzer and Sam McGuire IV to architectural designer III, and Molly Baker and Francesly Sierra to architectural designer II. Ed Palushock was hired as a project architect, Marie Henson as a medical planner, Brandusa Balarca, Antonia Ciaverella and Nate Williams as architectural staff members, and Tori Salvatore as marketing coordinator. James Sykes, a project architect, relocated to Seattle from the Dallas office. Bussard has more than 17 years of experience that includes the Husky Union Building at the University of Washington and The Atrium, a life science development for Washington Holdings in Seattle.

Regional law firm Lane Powell hired Michael Harrington as counsel to the labor and employment practice group. Harrington was executive director of labor relations for Group Health Cooperative.
Seattle-based Bartell Drugs said it has purchased two pharmacies in Everett and Marysville from The Everett Clinic. The pharmacies will be operated by Bartell Drugs effective June 10. Founded in Seattle in 1890, Bartell Drugs owns and operates 60 locations in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties.

Tacoma-based Korsmo Construction hired Steve Rich as a project manager. Rich has more than 20 years of experience in construction management and preconstruction services on projects up to $90 million. At Korsmo, Rich is focusing on design-build projects as well as private development client relations. He is a certified Project Management Professional and LEED AP, and holds a master's degree in engineering management.

Lamont Jacobsen joined JayMarc Homes as chief financial officer. Jacobsen previously was CFO for one of the largest privately held builders in the region. He holds a bachelor's degree in business with an accounting emphasis from the University of Washington, and passed the CPA exam on his first sitting. Renton-based JayMarc builds luxury and custom homes in the greater Seattle area.
