Ellis

Edmonds-based CG Engineering hired James Ellis as a civil engineer-in-training. Ellis graduated from Washington State University's civil engineering program and holds EIT certification in Washington. He worked as a field engineer intern for Mason Construction Co. CG is a civil and structural engineering firm.

Farallon Consulting

Damron

Farallon Consulting hired Ellen D. Damron as a project environmental scientist. She has 18 years in the industry, including due diligence and stormwater management services for residential, commercial and industrial properties in the Northwest, California, Colorado and the East Coast. Farallon is an Issaquah-based environmental consulting firm with offices in Seattle, Bellingham, Portland and Sacramento, Calif.

KBA, Inc.

Schuyler

KBA, Inc. hired Sam Schuyler as a project manager in Bellevue. Schuyler has 36 years of transportation experience. He retired from the Washington State Department of Transportation after 30 years there, most recently as assistant local programs engineer in the Northwest region. Bellevue-based KBA provides construction management. It also has an office in Olympia.

USKH named Dale Smythe a principal and Daniel Karas an associate. Smythe has spent his career with USKH, which he joined in 2001. He is the Anchorage regional architecture manager and has worked on school projects for Lower Kuskokwim School District. Karas joined USKH in 2007 after working for nine years for architectural firms in Seattle and Chicago. He is based in USKH's Walla Walla office. His projects include the Power House Theater in Walla Walla. USKH provides architectural, landscape architecture, engineering, environmental, planning and land surveying services, with offices in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.

Jones

WHPacific promoted Tom Jones to vice president of development and facilities, and Morgan Kramm II to vice president of construction/project management. It hired Jason Kack as vice president of survey and L. Michael Burns as vice president of energy. Jones has 20-plus years with the firm, most recently as operations manager for the Portland office. He has more than 30 years of industry experience, with Cascade Station in Portland, Ore. among his projects. Kramm has more than 32 years of experience as principal-in-charge and project manager for suppliers and owners. His projects include Wingate Elementary School replacement in Grand Junction, Colo. Kack has more than 31 years of experience in surveying operations, safety, technology, leadership and client relationship development. His projects include the Denver Broncos Stadium laser scanning of structural steel installation. Burns has 40-plus years of experience in energy engineering and consulting, with projects that include a natural gas transmission line from Wyoming to Southern California. WHPacific provides architecture, building engineering, energy, environmental, land development, surveying, transportation and water resources services.

Meagan McGuire will join the staff of Seattle Southside Visitor Services as business development manager. She has been Group Sales & Private Events account executive for the Museum of Flight since 2006.

National Marine Electronics Association

The National Marine Electronics Association named Johnny Lindstrom, a design engineer at Westport Shipyard, chairman of the NMEA board of directors effective Jan. 1, 2014. He succeeds David Gratton, who is completing a three-year term. Lindstrom works for Westport Shipyard, a yacht builder with facilities in Westport, Port Angeles and Hoquiam, as well as Fort Lauderdale.

Oxygen Learning

Rochelle Robison has been named senior designer at Oxygen Learning in Seattle. Oxygen designs and delivers corporate training programs. Robison has worked as a learning consultant, instructional designer and program manager for more than 10 years. She has a master's in education, and has worked as a project manager, event planner and television director.

U of Idaho president

A provost from the University of South Dakota has been tapped to become the University of Idaho's new president. The Idaho State Board of Education announced Monday that Chuck Staben, provost and vice president of academic affairs at the University of South Dakota, was chosen out of the five finalists contending for the job. Saben will take over for Don Burnett, the dean of UI's College of Law, in March under a three-year contract paying $350,000 a year. Burnett took on the role of interim president after UI's previous president, Duane Nellis, left to become president of Texas Tech.

Garden City Group

Garden City Group said Thomas Davis, Jr. has joined the company in the new position of vice president of West Coast operations. He will be based in Seattle. Davis will report directly to Jennifer Keough, GCG's executive vice president and chief operating officer. His background includes complex litigation, employment law, white collar crime and bankruptcy. He was corporate secretary and general counsel at Airbiquity, and also worked at the accounting firm of Moss Adams. GCG's services include legal administration for class action settlements.

Judy Endejan joins Garvey Schubert Barer and is expanding the firm's D.C.-based national communications practice with a West Coast presence. She spent 12 years with Graham & Dunn. GSB has clients in all facets of communications including electronic media, broadcast, web services, wireless devices and telecom. Endejan also worked as a professional journalist.

Richardson

BNBuilders added Mark Richardson as senior preconstruction manager in its Seattle office. Richardson has 20 years of construction experience in projects such as healthcare, higher education, high-rise residential, justice, aviation and laboratories. He holds a bachelor's degree in quantity surveying from the University of Salford in the United Kingdom, and is a certified Associate Value Specialist with SAVE International.

Walsh Construction Co.

Mulugeta

Fik Mulugeta joined Walsh Construction Co.'s Washington region as a project engineer. His responsibilities are project documentation, labor supervision, schedule implementation, quality inspections, and coordination of subcontractors, field supervisors and field employees. Walsh is a general contractor specializing in affordable mixed-use, multi-unit, special needs and student housing.

Sioux Chief

Rough plumbing products manufacturer Sioux Chief promoted Kirk Livernash to regional sales manager for the West Coast. Livernash previously was the factory representative in Nevada and Southern California. Sioux Chief is based in Kansas City, Mo.

Dwell Development

Seattle-based Dwell Development won a U.S. Department of Energy Challenge Home award for its Passive House built on spec in the Columbia City neighborhood. Dwell was cited as one of the top three builders in the nation in its category.

Boise Cascade

Boise Cascade Engineered Wood Products, a business unit of Boise Cascade Co. headquartered in Boise, Idaho, won the national Best Dealer Program award in the inaugural Brand Builder Awards. The national competition recognizes the most innovative and effective marketing campaigns throughout the residential and commercial design and construction industry.
