The Bellevue Downtown Association said Ross Jacobson, attorney for Williams Kastner, is 2014 board chair. He is a Bellevue resident and has served on several boards including Rotary Club of Bellevue and Bellevue Chamber of Commerce.
Pacific Northwest Ballet named Ellen Walker the next executive director. She is PNB's director of marketing and communications, and will succeed retiring Executive Director D. David Brown in July. Walker teaches arts marketing in Seattle University and has worked as a marketing consultant to arts and civic organizations.
King County Council confirmed Adrienne Quinn as director of the Department of Community and Human Service. She has served as acting director since November. Quinn oversees a $350 million budget and a staff of 295 people in Community Services, Developmental Disabilities, and Mental Health, Chemical Abuse and Dependency Services. She was executive director of Medina Foundation in Seattle and director of the Seattle Office of Housing.
Industrial Property Trust bought West Valley Distribution Center, a 97,000-square-foot building at 6858 S. 190th St. in Kent, for $7.9 million, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The seller is listed as West Valley Distribution Associates I LP. The building is 100 percent leased to Bassett Furniture Direct, Metropolitan Gymnastics, Allied Manufacturing and TransCold Distribution. It will be managed by Kennedy Property Management. Industrial Property Trust is a Denver-based real estate investment trust that focuses on markets near major distribution hubs with high barriers to entry.
Peak Capital Partners, a Provo, Utah-based multifamily investment company, bought The Villas at Bridge Creek, 103 low income apartments at 2011 Brandt Road in Vancouver. Terms were not disclosed. The seller is a partnership between Insite Housing Partners of Seattle and Hearthstone Housing Foundation of Newport Beach, Calif. The building is 96 percent full. Peak Capital plans an exterior renovation. It owns 30 apartment buildings valued at more than $500 million.

Ron van der Veen joined NAC|Architecture as principal architect. He has 29 years of experience in architecture and has worked on projects across the United States, with emphasis on higher education, student housing and sustainability. He will lead higher education and student housing projects at NAC. He is a founding board member for the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education and has done presentations nationally on green design. He was a principal at DLR Group and a partner at Mithun. He is a columnist for Arcade magazine, an artist, and plays drums in a local rock band. NAC provides planning, design, engineering and capital facilities consulting.

Craig Ware joined Farallon Consulting as a principal hydrogeologist in the Portland office. Ware is a geologist with more than 27 years of experience in environmental due diligence, site investigation, remediation and permitting. Issaquah-based Farallon provides environmental consulting, with offices also in Seattle, Bellingham and Sacramento, Calif.

Samuel Jacobs has joined the Seattle law office of Helsell Fetterman. He has practiced land use and real estate law in Seattle for more than 30 years, most recently as a partner in Mosler, Schermer & Jacobs. His focus is on development issues, housing cooperatives, floating home communities, and condo and homeowner associations. Jacobs has been a board member and president of Capitol Hill Housing.

Shauna Swerland, an executive recruiter with more than 19 years of experience, announced the launch of Fuel Talent. She is the founder and CEO. The company is the result of her acquisition of the Seattle office of Glocap Search, a New York City-based executive search firm where she was a partner for 10 years. Fuel Talent will focus on full-time, consulting and temporary jobs in marketing, creative, accounting, administrative, tech and sales for early-stage start-ups to established fortune 500 companies.
Jack Anderson, co-founder and CEO of 31-year-old branding and design firm Hornall Anderson, is now the firm's chairman. The president of operations, John Anicker, has been named president and CEO. Anderson started the company in 1982 with John Hornall. It is now a global firm and part of Diversified Agency Services, a division of Omnicom Group, with offices in Seattle and London. Clients include Starbucks, PepsiCo, Nordstrom, Madison Square Garden and the Empire State Building. Anicker has been with the firm for over 20 years.


In its Seattle office, Walsh Construction Co. hired Wayne Jackson as senior superintendent for the Washington region and promoted Alexa Zastko to marketing administrative assistant. Jackson has more than 30 years of construction experience. He is responsible for safety, quality, project schedule, budget, and job site administration and logistics. Zastko joined Walsh in 2013 as a receptionist. Walsh specializes in affordable mixed-use, multi-unit, special needs and student housing, as well as renovations and historic preservation.
David Niessner joined New Wood Resources as general manager of Omak Wood Products in Okanogan County. Niessner is managing the 90-person team at Omak Wood Products, which was formed through an agreement with New Wood Resources and the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation to restart the veneer mill in Omak, and to enter into a long-term log supply agreement from tribal-owned timberlands. He has held leadership roles in forest land management and large-scale multi-mill fiber procurement over his 35-year career.
