The Auction of Washington Wines named Doug Dorton director of development and partnerships. He will handle donor and audience development, and recruit business partners, under the direction of interim Executive Director Sherri Swingle. Dorton has more than 15 years of experience in marketing global brands and supporting nonprofits, and has worked at Slalom Consulting, Microsoft and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. A majority of the auction proceeds help Seattle Children's.
U-Haul has established a presence at Star Mini Mart & Deli in Edmonds. Gedamu Ege and Melese Worku, co-owners of Star Mini Mart & Deli, recently partnered with U-Haul. The mini mart is at 7533 Olympic View Drive.






The Seattle office of Lease Crutcher Lewis promoted Shannon Testa to senior project manager, and hired Tammara Beck as project manager, Herb LeBeau and Jeremy Callas as project engineers, Tom Green and Anthony Brusati as BIM coordinators, and Sasi Butsakron-O-Pas as operations assistant. Testa started in construction in 1998 and joined Lewis in 2007. She holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Washington State University. Beck has 23 years of building management and construction experience, including 11 years at Amgen. LeBeau holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Seattle University. Callas has six years of industry experience and holds a bachelor's degree from WSU. Green has three years of BIM experience and has worked as a carpenter foreman and ironworker. He holds a certificate in construction management from Edmonds Community College. Brusati has seven years of construction experience, holds a bachelor's degree from WSU and is finishing an associate's degree in architectural graphics at Lake Washington Institute of Technology. Butsakron-O-Pas studied accounting at Seattle University.
Nick Paget joined the Moloney O'Neill division of Alliant Insurance Services as first vice president. In the Spokane office, Paget is working with Northwest commercial contractors on surety bonding. He has nearly two decades of industry experience.
Two Seattle-area branches of BDI Insulation were bought by Installed Building Products of Columbus, Ohio. The branches operate as Pacific Partners Insulation North in Arlington and Pacific Partners Insulation South in Tacoma. Installed Building Products also has a branch in Puyallup that operates as Insulation Northwest.

America's Car Museum named Mark Zenor chairman of the Vintage Motorcycle Festival: The MEET at ACM. It takes place at the museum's Haub Family Field Aug. 22. Zenor is a Norton collector and an active member in several motorcycle clubs.
The Port of Everett signed an eight-year lease with All Ocean Services for 1,532 square feet in Waterfront Center to provide engineering management, project management and consulting services for commercial and passenger vessels. All Ocean Services has operations on the Pacific Coast, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean and Africa. The owner is Alfred Favre, and the company is located in Seattle. It will occupy space that now houses the Port of Everett's marina office.

Mike Wood and Austin Johnson of NBS Financial Services arranged $18 million in permanent financing for The Douglas, 81 units of student housing with 259 beds at 1223 E. Cherry St. near Seattle University. NBS represented the lender, Nationwide Insurance. NBS Financial is part of NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson, a real estate company in Portland.


Metzler Real Estate promoted Steven A. Franceschina to chief operating officer and Matthew Paddock to senior managing director. Franceschina will oversee Metzler's $3 billion in U.S. real estate assets. Paddock will work on West Coast acquisitions, and oversee the U.S. real estate fund. Metzler is a real estate investment company based in Seattle. It is the North American affiliate of B. Metzler seel. Sohn & Co., the oldest private bank in Germany.


McAvoy Real Estate, a Seattle-based condo sales company, hired Larry Ahrens and Chanell Williams-Beaumont to work on the sales team for Luma, a 24-story, 168-unit condo on First Hill. Lowe Enterprises and Swedish pension fund Alecta are the developers. The building is under construction, and sales are expected to begin in April. Ahrens worked at TeamBuilder KW and represented MainVue Homes. Ahrens worked at Schnitzer West, Windermere OnSite and Miller Condominium Marketing. Williams-Beaumont worked at Coldwell Banker Bain, Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services in Encino, California, and Realogics Sotheby's International Realty in Seattle.
Spokane-based Red Lion Hotels Corp. has converted a hotel at 599 E. Broadway in Eugene, Oregon, to Red Lion Inn & Suites. Red Lion will upgrade rooms and the gym. AA Hotel Management Co. will manage the property. Red Lions officials say they plan to grow to 100 hotels in 100 weeks. The company has 56 hotels, 38 of which are franchised.
Berkadia, a joint venture of Berkshire Hathaway and Leucadia National Corp., negotiated apartment sales in Tacoma and Portland. Kenny Dudunakis of the Seattle office and Jim Jensen of the Tacoma office negotiated the sale of Eagles Landing Apartments, a 230-unit property in Tacoma, for $18.5 million, or $80,435 per unit. Goodman Real Estate was the buyer. Phil Oester and Joe Nydahl of the Portland office negotiated the sale of Westover Tower Apartments in Portland's popular Alphabet District. The 70-unit building was 95 percent leased when the sale closed last month. No price was given.
NewSpring Capital, a family of private equity funds based in Radnor, Pennsylvania, said its NewSpring Holdings has completed acquisition of X5 Solutions of Seattle. X5 Solutions offers custom telecom services.
Plum Creek Timber Co. said Laura Clise will join as director of sustainability. Clise was with Areva Inc., a nuclear and renewable energy supplier, where she directed external communications and corporate citizenship efforts. Plum Creek said it is among the largest private landowners in the U.S., with more than 6 million acres in 19 states, and operates mills in the Northwest.
