Ruth S. Lee Johnson has joined Lane Powell as an attorney in the Litigation Practice Group. Johnson focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, and previously was an associate for Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP.

Teng

Lee & Hayes, an intellectual property law firm, hired chemical and life sciences patent attorney Sally P. Teng, Ph.D., as part of its multi-office chemical and life sciences industry group. Teng is based in the Washington D.C.-metro office and has represented chemical, biotech and pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, universities and nonprofits. The 156-person firm has offices in Atlanta, Austin, Portland, Seattle, Spokane and Rochester, N.Y.

CITC of Washington

Thirty-seven students recently graduated from the Construction Industry Training Council of Washington’s programs covering the carpentry, electrical, heavy equipment operator and plumbing trades. All of the programs are state approved. CITC anticipates enrollment of 500 students for the fall quarter, including 220 new students. It said enrollment is up due to the strengthening economy and a new CITC facility in Spokane.

Roger Hinshaw was named to head a new Pacific Northwest Region for commercial banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. The team will focus on companies and institutions in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Vancouver, Canada. He will continue as market president for Oregon and Southwest Washington. Hinshaw was global commercial banking executive for the Pacific Northwest. Rob Brougham was named senior vice president and senior client manager for the Northwest, serving middle market companies with annual revenues of $50 million to $2 billion. He will be based in Seattle. Brougham was with Newstone Capital Partners.

Lighthouse eDiscovery

Sabatka

Lighthouse eDiscovery, a technology-enabled ediscovery services and consulting firm, named Quint Sabatka director of finance. Sabatka worked for Trimac, a family of transportation and logistical enterprises in the United States and Canada, and was director of finance and strategic planning.

REI

Outdoor retailer REI promoted Julie Averill to chief information officer. Averill joined REI in 2014 and was vice president of information technology. She was Nordstrom's vice president of technology before joining REI, and an adjunct professor in Seattle University's masters of software engineering program. REI will open a tech hub office in September in Eastgate.

Shotwell

The law firm Dorsey & Whitney added Charles Shotwell as a senior attorney in the National Security Group to advise clients on U.S. export control and embargo matters. Shotwell worked at the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, U.S. Department of State, and also worked in the U.S. Department of Defense. He is a retired U.S. Air Force officer and staff judge advocate.

Snohomish County PUD

Snohomish County Public Utility District Board will vote on naming Craig Collar as CEO/general manager on Aug. 25. Collar has been assistant general manager of power, rates and transmission management since fall 2012. Collar replaces Steve Klein, who retired this spring. Craig was employed at Kimberly-Clark for 16 years and served in the Navy as a nuclear submarine officer.

Point B Inc., a management consulting and venture investment firm, named Peter LaSalle vice president of business development to lead the national sales team. He is a 15-year veteran of Oracle and PeopleSoft.

Berkadia works on Colorado deal

Louis Weisman, managing director of Berkadia's Seattle office, secured $26.3 million in financing for two apartment properties in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Epernay Apartments and Quail Run Apartments were built in 1985 and total 360 units. The 10-year loans are for FW Group of Mercer Island through Berkadia's Freddie Mac Program. Entities related to FW Group acquired the properties in 2008 for $25.8 million.

Jeff Johnson, president of Spokane-based Black Commercial, will speak at CCIM Institute's Washington State Chapter luncheon Sept. 9 at Seattle Yacht Club, 1807 E. Dylan Welch has joined Jones Lang LaSalle's Bellevue industrial team as an associate on the tenant portfolio. Welch recently graduated from Washington State University with a degree in economics and interned at Enterprise Holdings. JLL has more than 230 offices in 80 countries and employs 58,000 people.
