Women Business Owners said Leasa Mayer won the 2015 Nellie Cashman Woman Business Owner of the Year Award. Mayer owns CRG Events, which manages corporate events such as conferences, roadshows, product launches, retreats, training and team building.

Department of Commerce

Joshua Berger will serve as economic development director for the state maritime industry sector, joining the Washington State Department of Commerce from his current job as coordinator of Washington Maritime Federation in mid-November. He has worked for the Economic Development Council of Seattle and King County, The Evergreen State College and the Environmental Education Association of Washington, and is also a professional merchant mariner. Steve Sewell was named the first maritime sector lead two years ago.

Jim Reynolds joined Auburn Mechanical as vice president of HVAC design and construction. Reynolds has 38 years of experience in the design-build mechanical industry. He is focusing on dry-side HVAC at Auburn Mechanical.

Erickson Inc. made several new additions to senior leadership. The new senior director of sales for Government Aviation Services is Richard “Trey” Williams. William Fulton is senior director of sales for Commercial Aviation Services. Tony Lustig is senior director of business development for the Asia Pacific region, and Scott Ellis returns as director of sales MRO and manufacturing. Erickson is a global provider of aviation services.

WSU Health Sciences

A physician researcher has been named director of a new program at Washington State University Health Sciences Spokane to focus on community health in underserved populations and geographic regions. Dedra Buchwald will head the Initiative for Research and Education to Advance Community Health. She founded Partnerships for Native Health.

Edge Asset Management

Edge Asset Management of Seattle hired Cliff Remily and Toby Jayne. Remily will be a co-portfolio manager focused on international and global equity income strategies. Jayne will serve as a co-portfolio manager for core equity capabilities. Edge is an affiliate of Principal Global Investors.

Ashbaugh Beal hired Jocelyn Whiteley and Chris Ferrell as associates. Whiteley will be in the litigation groups and Ferrell has joined the corporate/securities group. Both are 2015 graduates of University of Washington School of Law.

Washington Business Alliance

Washington Business Alliance has named Colleen McAleer president and COO. She is a commissioner at the Port of Port Angeles and was the port's director of business development. McAleer also served 10 years in the US Army as a helicopter and fixed-wing pilot.

CREW Signature Event Oct. 22

Commercial Real Estate Women Seattle & Sound will hold its annual Signature Event Oct. 22 at the Space Needle. It starts at 7 p.m. with beer and wine, food, and live music. 12th Avenue Arts wins ULI award

Capitol Hill Housing's 12th Avenue Arts was one of 10 winners in Urban Land Institute's Global Awards for Excellence. It was one of five U.S. projects. The other winners are in England, France, Sweden and China. 12th Avenue Arts is at 1620 12th Ave. on Capitol Hill, with 88 units of affordable housing, theater space, offices, retail and underground parking for the Seattle Police Department. SMR Architects designed it, and Walsh Construction Co. was the general contractor.

Program here Nov. 19 on EB-5 visas

The Seminar Group will hold a meeting on the federal EB-5 immigrant visa program Nov. 19 at Hilton Seattle. The program offers permanent residency green cards for immigrants who invest in job-creating projects.
