The family-owned, Seattle-based drugstore chain is opening its newest location Nov. 19 in the Commons at Ballard, 5601 22nd Ave. N.W. The 14,200-square-foot store is the 65th in the 125-year-old chain's regional network. The grand opening from 7-11 a.m. will include special offers at the growler fill bar, Northwest on Tap. Henbart developed the mixed-use complex to meet LEED platinum standards. There are two buildings with 22,000 square feet of office space, 80 apartments, 20,000 square feet of retail and four townhouses facing Ballard Commons Park.
The real estate construction loan and investment company said Lynda Meadows has been named chief financial officer. She is a CPA with 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, and worked for Weyerhaeuser Realty Investors and Quadrant Homes, a division of Weyerhaeuser. Founded in 2009, Builders Capital has funded over 1,100 loans totaling nearly $500 million.
M&M said it sold Windmill Center Self Storage in Edgewood for $4.35 million. The five-acre Pierce County property has 37,093 square foot of secure storage, a small office building, and 50 parking spaces for RVs and oversized vehicles. M&M's Christopher R. Secreto, Jacob Becher and Aaron Sher represented the buyer and seller.
The Chicago-based organization CCIM Institute designated three local people as new Certified Commercial Investment Members: Mark O'Shea of Mercer Island's Azose Commercial Properties; Amanda Day Hahnemann of Bellevue's RGM Commercial Real Estate; and Jackie Fisher Niebling of Kirkland's Weidner Investment Services. They join some 10,000 CCIMs nationwide. Certification requires 160 classroom hours and various professional requirements.
Realogics Sotheby's International Realty is consolidating two smaller offices on Bainbridge Island into a new space in the Old Hardware Store at 240 Winslow Way E. Half of the renovated 1948 building — about 4,000 square feet — is now what RISR's Island Living Gallery. The other half will be Bruciato, a new restaurant and bar from chef Brendan McGill of Hitchcock, that is set to open later this year. Jennifer Johnsen is the new branch manager for the RSIR brokerage. The space will be a stop on First Friday Artwalk and an evening events space. The Old Hardware Store was acquired in January by an LLC led by Joseph Lacko. The renovation team included architect Dana Webber, Clark Construction and interior designer Jennifer Colley.
Laura Martin-Fedich has been named vice president for enrollment at University of Puget Sound, starting Jan. 17. She now works at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, as vice president for enrollment, and dean of admissions and financial aid.
REI hired Raquel Karls as senior vice president of human resources. She was chief human resources officer at Outerwall and has also worked at Starbucks, Expedia and Pepsi. The nation's largest consumer co-op has more than 6 million active members and 149 stores in 36 states.

Seattle-based structural engineering firm Lund Opsahl hired Tony Mason as a design engineer, Jim Blake as senior CAD/BIM technician, Lauren Huffman as office administrator, and Stephen Lau, Blake Bergh and Devin Drake as engineers. Mason has five years of experience in structural design and 10 years in construction. He has worked on commercial and institutional projects in hurricane-prone regions of the Gulf Coast and is doing design of underground structures for the Washington State Convention Center expansion. Huffman has a background in design and administrative work, and will do marketing materials and social media. Blake has over 14 years of experience, including architectural and structural REVIT modeling. He is building the structural model for a Vulcan project in South Lake Union. Lau holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Washington, and worked at Exeltech. His projects include structural design of a utility tunnel and seismic anchorages for steam piping at Sea-Tac Airport. Bergh holds a civil engineering degree from California State University, Chico, and has hands-on experience in residential construction, including micro housing. Drake holds a bachelor's in civil engineering from Gonzaga University. He has worked in structural steel erection and geotechnical inspection services.




In Bellevue, Osborn Consulting promoted Robert Parish to vice president, and it hired Joan Montgomery as a project engineer, Diana Hasegan as a project manager and Indulekshmi as an engineer in training. Parish will continue to manage projects and take on responsibilities held by the executive leadership team, including day-to-day management and strategic vision. Montgomery has a background in site design, and stormwater and utility design. Hasegan has experience with regulatory compliance for stormwater permits, design of engineered solutions for corrective actions, alternative analyses and feasibility studies. Indulekshmi holds a master's in hydrology and hydrodynamics in civil engineering from the University of Washington.





In Seattle, Swenson Say Faget hired engineers in training Christopher Cadag, Dani Rustagi, Sarah Olson and Dlyan LaRose as staff engineers and Kathryn Beames as a CAD technician. Cadag was with Exeltech Consulting for three years, and held positions in the Structures Lab and Campus Engineering while attending the University of Washington, where he received a master's in structural engineering. He is working on a Burien warehouse renovation. Rustagi holds a bachelor's in architectural engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She is working on residential projects. Olson holds a master's in structural engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. She is doing multi- and single-family work. LaRose is a Seattle Pacific University graduate who was a Corps of Engineers intern and spent two years at Tetra Tech. He is working on seismic retrofits. Beames holds an associate's degree in architectural engineering drafting from North Seattle Community College, and a CAD for design and construction certificate. She supports drafting projects in Seattle and Tacoma.
Wells Fargo Insurance, part of Wells Fargo & Co., named Mike Taylor senior vice president and managing director for Washington and Alaska. Taylor will focus on middle market and large corporate customers, and be based in Seattle. He began his insurance career at Willis, and worked for Wells Fargo as managing director in Phoenix.
Washington State Hospital Association has hired Chris Bandoli as senior vice president for policy and advocacy. Bandoli has been with Regence BlueShield since 2007, serving as director of government affairs for five years. He replaces Cassie Sauer, who will become president and CEO in January, replacing Scott Bond, who retires at the end of year. WSHA represents more than 100 hospitals and health systems.
