State Board of Education

Patty Wood of Kelso has been elected to the State Board of Education. She is president of the Kelso School District Board. She fills the Western Region, Position 4 on the 16-member board, with a four-year term. The board provides advocacy and oversight of public education. Wood is also on the Washington State School Directors Association board of directors.

Lane Powell

Lane Powell said it received a perfect score on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index, a national survey of corporate practices related to LGBT workplace equality administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. More than 500 U.S. businesses earned top marks this year. Jill R. Long is Lane Powell's director of professional development and diversity.

Bridges at Northcreek

The Denver office of NorthMarq said David Link and Brian Fisher arranged $93 million in acquisition financing for the 524-unit Bridges at Northcreek in Bothell, which sold in October for $145 million. Kidder Mathews' Giovanni Napoli and Philip Assouad brokered the sale on behalf of seller Grosvenor Americas, and Denver-based Griffis Residential was the buyer. In a statement, Link said, “The financing was arranged for the borrower, a long-term client of the Denver office, through NorthMarq Capital's Fannie Mae program. The loan was a 10-year full term interest-only transaction.” NorthMarq said it is the largest privately held commercial real estate financial intermediary in the U.S., with a loan portfolio of over $47 billion.

Cheesecake Factory

Cheesecake Factory has opened a restaurant at 4502 S. Steele St., Suite 1300A, in Tacoma. The space has limestone floors and custom wood columns, hand-painted murals and modern lighting. The Calabasas, California-based chain has more than 250 items on the menu. The company and its subsidiaries owns and operates 208 restaurants in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and operates two bakeries.

In Tacoma, AHBL hired Chris Ketler as a chainperson, Sean Korf as a crew chief, Chelsea Teigen as an engineering technician and Greg Tauscheck, Brian Schend, Dan Hendrickson and Bonnie Ng as project engineers. It hired Josh Saitelbach as a landscape designer in Seattle and Evan Tremaine as a project engineer in Spokane. Ketler and Korf work in the survey department. Teigen is in the structural department. She was an AHBL summer intern and will work part-time as an engineering technician. Tauscheck has over 20 years of engineering experience, and will work on Sartori Elementary School for Renton School District. Schend has 11 years of experience in development, and will work on the 6th and Alder mixed-use project in Tacoma. Hendrickson is an engineer in training and holds a bachelor's in civil engineering from Washington State University. Ng holds a bachelor's in civil engineering from the University of Florida and a master's in structural engineering from the University of California, San Diego. She was an AHBL summer intern and will work on the Sustained Airborne Rappel Tower at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Saitelbach interned with the firm. He holds dual master's degrees in landscape architecture and urban planning and design from the University of Washington, and a bachelor's in environmental design, cultural architecture from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He will work on Oak Tree Park improvements. Tremaine, an engineer in training, holds a bachelor's in civil engineering from Carroll College. He will work on a stormwater system retrofit for Chelan County. AHBL provides civil and structural engineering, landscape architecture, community planning, and land surveying, with an office also in the Tri-Cities.

In Seattle, DCI Engineers hired David Alden as a CAD designer, Udit Rastogi as a project engineer, Erin Spaulding as a communications coordinator, and promoted Max Honkawa to senior CAD designer and Rick Carnahan to CAD manager. Alden has experience in formwork design, traffic control design, and technician/quality assurance in aviation electronics. He is working on residential renovation and commercial projects. Rastogi has over seven years of engineering experience coordinating projects in the U.S. and India. He is working on 620 Terry in Seattle. Spaulding has done print news and freelance writing. She does marketing, business development content, blog posts and press releases, specifically working on publicity for DCI's Portland and southern California offices. Honkawa was hired in 2013 and has supported projects that include SLI 47+7 in Seattle. He also did BIM modeling for 6230 Yucca in Los Angeles. Carnahan joined DCI in 2001 and has done drawings for projects, including Multicare Covington Medical Center in Covington. He will manage the production schedule for 14 drafters; train and mentor new staff; and contribute to the firmwide CAD standards. DCI is a civil and structural engineering firm, with offices in Washington, Oregon, California, Texas and Alaska.

Tacoma-based Tres West Engineers promoted Scott Felton to principal and partner, and Mary Bruenn to marketing coordinator. Felton has 10 years of electrical engineering experience, and is responsible for organizational operations, electrical engineering and project management. He leads efforts in the commercial, housing, education and government service industries. Bruenn works on client communications, marketing, proposal responses and publications. The firm provides design and engineering services in mechanical, electrical, communications, and construction management.

Puget Sound Partnership

Manning

Gov. Jay Inslee named Jay Manning chair of the Puget Sound Partnership's Leadership Council. He was appointed to the council in 2013 and succeeds Martha Kongsgaard as chair. Puget Sound Partnership is a non-regulatory state agency charged with mobilizing efforts to protect and restore Puget Sound. Manning is a partner with Cascadia Law Group, and was director of the state Department of Ecology.

Peoples Bank

Hruza

Peoples Bank hired a new senior real estate loan officer, Jim Hruza, in the Bellevue Real Estate Loan Center. He has over 30 years of experience in financial services, and specializes in jumbo and construction loans. Hruza is a member of A Regional Coalition for Housing. The Bellingham-based bank has 26 branches and three loan production offices in Washington.
