Stantec appointed Sheina Hughes as operational leader of the Northwest region, encompassing Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Hughes is based in the Seattle area and leads nearly 350 employees from 11 offices. She has over 30 years of experience, including as senior principal in the transportation practice in Phoenix. Stantec provides engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, project management and project economics.




In Seattle, Gustafson Guthrie Nichol hired M. Humphreys as an accounting assistant, Lauren Schmidt as a designer, Lesia Mokrycke as a design intern and Kate Mortensen as an administrator. Humphreys has over a decade of experience with Seattle design firms. Schmidt has experience in Revit and BIM, and worked in the Netherlands for several years. Mokrycke is completing a masters of landscape architecture and master of fine arts at the University of Pennsylvania. Mortensen has a degree in interdisciplinary visual arts from the University of Washington, and experience at Bellevue Arts Museum. GGN is a Seattle-based landscape architecture firm.




In Pittsburgh, NK Architects hired Marc Ford as a senior project manager, Rebecca Griffith as a project architect, Alyssa Swisher as a staff architect and Diane Koch as office manager. Ford has 18 years of experience. He will be responsible for identifying and helping achieve project objectives. Griffith has six years of experience. She will create architectural design, including composition, building performance and code compliance. Swisher will support the project manager and architect by developing parts of the design and documentation. Koch will support leadership, administrative, marketing and event planning needs.

Seattle-based Plaza Bank promoted Michael T. Anderson, executive vice president and chief lending officer, to president and CEO after the retirement of CEO Michael J. Clabby in November. Anderson joined Plaza Bank in 2014. It was founded in 2006 and serves closely held businesses, professional firms and nonprofits.
Tacoma-based Columbia Bank has launched the annual Warm Hearts Winter Drive to help people in homeless shelters in the Northwest. Now through Dec. 31, Columbia Bank will be accepting cash donations and new winter clothing with the goal of raising $160,000. Donations can be submitted at WarmHeartsWinterDrive.com. Cash and clothing can be donated at all Columbia Bank branches in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
The bank said the number of people experiencing homelessness in the Northwest has increased six percent since 2015. More information is at http://www.columbiabank.com.

Jennifer Phillips will become Bothell's new city manager Jan. 17. Phillips is city manager for St. Helena, California, and has 17 years of local government executive-level experience in Santa Rosa, Santa Monica and Fullerton, California. Her starting salary will be $179,000.

Perkins Coie promoted Trevor W. Varnes to chief financial officer. He has a 15-year career at the firm, most recently as senior director of financial planning and analysis. The firm has more than 1,000 lawyers in 19 offices across the U.S. and Asia.
Washington Council on International Trade named Lori Otto Punke its new president. Punke is founder and principal of LOP Strategies, and worked in public affairs positions at Starbucks and Microsoft, and as a senior policy advisor to the U.S. Senate. WCIT advocates for public policies that increase international competitiveness. Its members are manufacturers, farmers, retailers and service providers.




Kent-based Novinium hired James Schlagenhaft as regional operations manager for the Southwest region, Jason McCary as a chemist, Chris Forbis as controls and instrumentation engineer, and Lee Getzewich as project manager in the engineering division. Schlagenhaft has six years of operations experience in the solar industry, and holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and management from the University of Redlands. McCary is expanding the company's research and development initiatives. He previously was a scientist in the aerospace industry, and holds a doctorate degree in organic chemistry from Ohio State University. Forbis spent more than a decade in plant automation support in the manufacturing sector. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from Henry Cogswell College. Getzewich has nearly 20 years of new product development and product line management experience, most recently with Romac Industries. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University. Novinium rehabilitates underground cables.


Vanir Construction Management hired Bernie O'Donnell as Northwest area development manager. O'Donnell has 27 years of industry experience, and has managed institutional and campus development projects at the University of Washington in Seattle and Tacoma. He holds a bachelor's degree in architecture from the UW. The company also announced that Scott Tomlinson is transitioning from Washington area manager to executive director of technology, manufacturing and Indian nation pursuits. Tomlinson has been with the company since 2003. Both men are based in Bellevue. Vanir is headquartered in Sacramento, California.
