Madrona Venture Group, an early-stage venture capital firm, named S. “Soma” Somasegar managing director. He joined Madrona in 2015 as a venture partner after leading Microsoft's Developer Division, and has been an active angel and seed investor. Hope Cochran has joined the firm as venture partner. Cochran was CFO of King Digital, creator of Candy Crush, and Clearwire. Julie Sandler was prompted to partner and Daniel Li to senior associate. Sandler launched Seattle Entrepreneurial Women's Network and was a senior product manager at Amazon. Li joined Madrona in 2015 and previously worked in the Seattle office of Boston Consulting Group.

Garvey Schubert Barer said Eryn Karpinski Hoerster, Susan Kim and Daniel Vecchio have been elevated to owners. Hoerster is based in the Portland office as part of the litigation practice. Kim's Seattle practice focuses on real estate and hospitality. Vecchio is a litigator in Seattle focused on commercial litigation, bankruptcy and debtor/creditor issues.

The Seattle office of Marcus & Millichap said it has brokered the $15.35 million sale of Shoreside Village, a 119-unit apartment complex in Everett's Beverly Lake neighborhood. The transaction was worth about $129,000 per unit. Rich Walker and Palo Alto-based Eduardo Cerna represented the seller, a California investor group. M&M's Spencer Clark and Matt Gardner procured the buyer, Williams Investments, a regional multifamily investment company. In a statement, Walker said, “The property provides new ownership with both a turn-key asset and one that offers opportunities to enhance value. Rental competition in the immediate neighborhood is relatively low, as there are only two other conventional market-rate apartment communities on Beverly Lake.”

In Redmond, Otak hired Doug Beyerlein as a senior water resource engineer and hydrologist, and Joe Brascher as a senior hydrologist. Beyerlein has over 40 years of experience and has taught stormwater modeling to engineers, planners and reviewers. He is working on the N.E. 40th Street Stormwater Trunk Extension for Redmond. Brascher has over 20 years of experience in hydrologic modeling, stormwater management and software development. His work includes French Creek Fish Passage for Snohomish County. Olszko has bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from WSU. He is working on East Division Elementary School in Mount Vernon. Messegee holds a bachelor's in civil engineering from the University of Idaho. Her projects include Tehaleh Elementary School in Sumner. Reijm has a master's in civil engineering from WSU and is working on Bridgewood Rivers Assisted Living Facility. Gaul has 16 years of experience in IT. He manages IT vendors, as well as manages, upgrades and installs equipment and software.

Fong is assisting with Highland Middle School for Bellevue School District. Archer is on the Glacier Middle School team for White River School District. Andersen Tax named Nick Pavelich managing director of the Seattle office and said he will join the Private Client Services group. Pavelich was CFO and president of real estate at Laird Norton Co. He also was a partner at Clark Nuber and a director at KPMG and Arthur Andersen. His specialties include real estate, flow-through entities and transaction structuring.

Mark Portin was promoted to general superintendent; Marc Schwartz and Doug Maxfield to senior superintendents; Chuck Hynek to superintendent; Adam Thompson and James Rose III to field superintendents; and Oralia Cruz to VDC coordinator. New hires are Ryan Furth as project engineer and Tori Hall as operations assistant. Portin earned a business degree at Seattle University, joined the carpenters' union in 1990, then joined Lewis in 1995. Schwartz has been with Lewis for 26 years. Maxfield recently completed the Third & Harrison project for Martin Selig Real Estate. Hynek has been with the company for 17 years and has experience in project engineering, carpentry and field supervision. Thompson, LEED AP BD&C, holds a bachelor's degree in construction engineering technology from Montana State University. Rose started at Lewis in 2003 as a carpenter. Cruz earned degrees at the University of Utah and North Seattle College, and holds a construction management certificate from the University of Washington. Furth holds a bachelor's degree from Oregon State University. Hall studied at Lewis & Clark University.

He holds an MBA and a construction management certificate from the University of Washington, a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Lehigh University, and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Villanova University.

Kessel previously was regional controller at Adolfson & Peterson Construction. He majored in business administration with a finance concentration at the University of Washington, and holds the Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist designation. Allen previously worked on complex and large-scale projects at Turner Construction.

Rea has been in the plumbing and heating industry for more than 17 years. At Viega, he is developing traditional markets as well as new markets such as the marine and industrial sectors. He replaces Matt Bohmer, who is leading Viega's newly created Great Plains Region.
