HFF works on $54M Lacey deal

The 248-unit Marq on Martin, at 8545 Litt Dr S.E. in Lacey, sold to Security Properties in June for $54.5 million. Holliday Fenoglio Fowler said it secured acquisition financing for the buyer. The 12-acre complex has 10 buildings; the average unit size is 831 square feet. Brokers weren't announced. HFF said it secured a 10-year, fixed-rate loan (with five years of interest only) through Freddie Mac's CME Lease-Up Program. HFF's team was led by Charles Halladay, Scott Gilson and Robert Bova. Security Properties owns over 4,000 units in the region.

Colliers leases all of Gateway I

Colliers said Sam Ziemba and Derek Heed have leased all 110,250 square feet at Gateway I in Bellevue. In 2015, Talon Private Capital bought the four-story 1985 building at 11400 S.E. Eighth St. for $38.75 million. Colliers took over the leasing in February. Tenants include Mainspring Wealth Advisors, DCI Engineers, Seattle Pacific Mortgage, MultiCare Health Systems, Evergreen Management Capital, Nichirei USA and TENW.

Benaroya lands SEFNCO at South Hill

Benaroya Co. has a new tenant at South Hill Business + Technology Center in Puyallup. SEFNCO Communications, which makes and installs wire and fiber products, is taking 15,810 square feet for its new headquarters, with 90 employees. Matthew Hagen of Kidder Mathews represented SEFNCO. John Bauder of CBRE represented Benaroya. Benaroya began developing the 86-acre complex a decade ago, which it originally acquired for $30 million.

CHH adds to board

Capitol Hill Housing said Robert Schwartz is the new chair of its board of directors. The nonprofit is developing 110 units at Capitol Hill Station, and partnering with Seattle Central College on about 82 units on the site of the landmarked Eldridge Tire Co. building. CHH currently has about 48 buildings in its portfolio, housing over 2,000 people.

Spaceworks Tacoma

Michael Liang is the new program director of Spaceworks Tacoma, a business incubator for the creative community. Liang spent 10 years with the National Park Service, supporting creative media efforts in over 80 parks. Spaceworks started eight years ago to fill vacant downtown storefronts with art, events and businesses, and now offers training and support for artists and entrepreneurs.

Walla Walla-based Banner Corp. is acquiring Burlington-based Skagit Bancorp in an all-stock transaction. Upon completion of the deal late this year, Skagit CEO Cheryl R. Bishop will join the Banner board of directors. Banner Corp. is the holding company for Banner Bank and Islanders Bank, and Skagit Bancorp is the holding company for Skagit Bank. The combined company will have about $11.4 billion in assets.

Mercer

Trisha Tyler, Mercer's Pacific Northwest health business leader, was named 2018 Female Leader of the Year by the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. Tyler was recognized for advancing gender equity in workplaces and the community. Mercer is a global consultant on health, wealth and careers. It's a subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies.

At its Seattle headquarters, Hart Crowser hired Amanda Hultz as a geologist and Mike Shaljian as a hydrogeologist. In Honolulu, it hired Karl Bromwell as a principal environmental scientist, Faith Caplan as a senior associate environmental planner, Shyun Ueno as a geologist, and Simone Simbeck, Brittany Cody and Matthew Fong as environmental scientists. Hultz holds a bachelor's from Western Washington University. She is working on highrise development and landslide repair, and supporting the in-house geotech lab. Shaljian holds a master's from Washington State University. He will work on environmental investigations. Bromwell has over 30 years of environmental consulting experience in Hawaii. He has worked on stormwater permitting and environmental impact statement/environmental assessment planning, Phase I and II environmental site assessments and ecological appraisals, and managed large on-call contracts. Caplan has over 25 years of environmental impact statement, National Environmental Policy Act, environmental planning and permitting experience. Her work has ranged from Hawaii Environmental Policy Act projects to a $25 million environmental impact statement for military actions in the Pacific. Ueno holds a bachelor's in geology and geophysics, and is working on geotechnical investigations for building and roadway foundations, and geologic hazards such as rockfalls. Simbeck has 12 years of experience in stormwater management and environmental monitoring, investigation and compliance. She has managed multicultural projects, been a marine environmental dredging specialist for Koniambo Nickel SAS in New Caledonia, owned an environmental consultancy in New Zealand, and worked for Washington Department of Ecology's marine monitoring unit. Cody has six years of experience in stormwater permitting and Phase I and II environmental site investigations, and is a inspector for sediment and erosion control. She has a background in database management, technical data compilation, and making complex data easily understandable. Fong has a bachelor's in natural resources environmental management from the University of Hawaii and a background in soil and water sampling, and environmental compliance for geothermal and stormwater projects. Hart Crowser is an engineering, science, and consulting firm.

In Seattle, Elliott Bay Design Group hired Alina Shrestha as a naval architect and John Moser as a marine engineer. Shrestha joined EBDG as a contractor in 2017. She is an engineer and researcher with experience in vessel repair, design and analysis, material planning, construction management, regulatory compliance and inspection. She will be responsible for design, construction and repair of vessels. Moser is a Texas A&M University at Galveston graduate who was a firefighter and emergency responder in Central Texas. He will develop analyses, drawings and technical reports and provide engineering support to project managers. EBDG provides naval architecture, marine engineering and production support services.

McKinstry

In Seattle, McKinstry promoted Allen Range to chief technology officer. Range will lead the company's enterprise technology team while partnering with business lines to integrate technology to better serve clients. He was senior director of IT operations. McKinstry is a national design, build, operate and maintain firm.

In Redmond, DOWL hired Lizzie Zemke as a wetland scientist. Zemke has nearly 30 years of experience in Washington that includes securing environmental permits for infrastructure projects, wetland and plant ecology, ecological restoration, and sustainability strategy. She has managed environmental projects for federal, state and local clients.

Rice Fergus Miller, a Bremerton-based architecture, interior design, planning and visualization firm, hired Anita Rossen as health care practice leader in its health care, hospitality and housing for seniors studios. Rossen is a health care specialist who has done facilitation, planning, and design for Seattle's Children's Hospital, and BC Women's and Children's Hospital in Canada.

In Anchorage, Stantec hired Dean Cimmiyotti as Alaska survey manager. Cimmiyotti has 40 years of experience on public and private projects, including over 25 years in project management. Besides surveying, he has a background in photogrammetry and lidar acquisition and mapping. Past clients include the Municipality of Anchorage. Stantec provides engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, construction services, project management, and project economics.

In Irvine, Farallon Consulting hired Brian Kahl as a senior geologist. Kahl has over 30 years of experience managing environmental liabilities, evaluating environmental impacts, and implementing remedial solutions in the public and private sectors. For the past eight years, he has focused on emerging technology applications for chlorinated solvent–related site investigations, vapor intrusion assessments, and remediation.
