Corey Margolis of Spectra Venue Management received a 2019 Generation Next award from the publication VenuesNow. Margolis is general manager of Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett. The award is for up-and-coming leaders in the venue industry who are 35 years old or younger.
Seattle-based Maven is acquiring TheStreet in a $16.5 million cash deal. TheStreet is a 20-year-old financial news and information provider to investors and institutions. Maven is an expert-driven group media network platform. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter.
Dallas-based BBG, which specializes in due diligence services for commercial real estate, announced that it has opened a Seattle office at One Union Square. It now has 35 offices nationwide, including two in Portland. Shawn Wayt will lead the Seattle office; he makes the move from Pacific Coast Valuation Group. Those services include valuation, advisory, property assessment, energy services, and zoning.
Colliers announced that it has found a new Sodo home for Weee!, an online delivery service for Asian American groceries. The 4-year-old company has taken 20,500 square feet at 1950 Sixth Ave. S. (aka the 6th & Holgate Building). Colliers' Xinxin Li and Godwin Moy of DBW Brokerage represented the tenant. James Kidder and Nicholas Ramirez of Kidder Mathews represented the landlord.
Weee! says it's now the largest Asian grocery delivery business in the U.S., with over $35 million in annual revenue and 150% growth year-over-year. The company has tripled its Seattle operation over the past the four months since opening here. It hopes to expand 20 cities over the next three years.
Co-founder and CEO Larry Liu said in a statement, “Building on our success in California, we chose Seattle, another major technology center, as our second hub, bringing our grocery delivery service to a higher level with a larger audience.”
Earlier this month, Capstone Partners announced that it would build the Block 3 office building at Esterra Park on spec, starting immediately. The Redmond project is called One Esterra Park, and will have 245,000 square feet. Holliday Fenoglio Fowler subsequently announced that it had secured $154.7 million in secured joint venture equity and construction financing for the project, which was designed by ZGF and being built by JTM. Completion is expected in late 2020; CBRE's Scott Davis, Tim Owens and Scotta Ashcraft are leasing the space for Capstone. HFF said the construction loan came from US Bank. The equity partner is a large insurance company that Capstone said it didn't want to name. HFF's Ben Bullock, Charles Halladay, Bruce Ganong, Zach Goodwin, Michael Leggett and Tom Wilson arranged the financing package.

The University of Washington Bothell appointed Gowri Shankar as interim vice chancellor for planning and administration. Shankar is a longtime faculty member in the School of Business who teaches finance, accounting and economics. He will replace Ruth A. Johnston when she leaves in August to become chief strategic financial officer for the New Mexico State University system.
Nathaniel Pieper will join Alaska Airlines in August as senior vice president of fleet, finance and alliances. Pieper worked for 20 years in aircraft, commercial, financial and strategic roles at Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines. He is relocating from Paris.

Coffman Engineers named Allison Hazen a principal owner. Hazen is the civil department manager in the Seattle office. She has over 18 years of experience and is a civil engineer. Her recent work includes project management for several Boeing NW region projects, federal work, and a partnership with Central Washington University to develop an ADA upgrade program, perform a campus-wide survey and generate an ADA transition plan. Coffman is a national multidiscipline engineering firm.


IA Interior Architects promoted Kim Parsley to account executive and Lynn Vandeberg to co-managing director of the Seattle office. Parsley collaborates with all IA offices and its global partners. She guides select IA account work, providing leadership, strategy and process improvement in this director level position. Parsley has over 25 years of account management experience, has led teams on projects and has done work globally. She works in Seattle. Vandeberg, a principal and account manager, has been on Seattle's leadership team and has led large accounts including over 8 million square feet of work in Seattle. She will be instrumental in the continued growth of IA in the Northwest and national markets. The global firm is focused exclusively on interior architecture and strategies.



In Bellevue, Freiheit Architecture hired Alexander Taam as an architectural designer and Thulasi Kumar and Linda Fullerton as interior designers. Taam has a bachelor of architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He has three years of experience in architecture and is working on national restaurant redesign projects. Kumar holds a master of public administration with a certificate in interior design from the University of Madras in Chennai, India, and an associate in arts in interior studies from Bellevue College. She has 10 years of experience in interior design and is working on medical and dental tenant improvement projects. Fullerton holds a bachelor of applied arts in interior design from Bellevue College. She has four years of experience in interior design and is working on office and health care tenant improvement projects. Freiheit is a commercial architecture and interior design firm.




In Hayden, Idaho, Trindera Engineering hired Sherise Nimmo as office manager and Nick Zito and Cody Litzko as an automation engineers. In Spokane, it hired Bobby Le Nguyen as an electrical engineer. Nimmo worked in the Department of Small Business Development Center at Washington State University. Zito has over 20 years of electrical experience with a background in PLC and HMI programing, automation, motor controls and troubleshooting of electrical and controls systems. He is a certified journeyman electrician and is familiar with the National Electrical Code. He was with Paw-Taw-John Services. Litzko is in the municipal and automation group for water and wastewater projects. He has a bachelor of mechanical engineering from the University of Idaho, and worked at Sargent and Lundy in Richland. Le Nguyen is in the municipal group for water and wastewater projects. He has a bachelor's in electrical engineering from Eastern Washington University. Trindera is an engineering firm that works in the municipal market on water, wastewater, public and infrastructure projects.


Spokane-based Bernardo Wills Architects hired Robert Soderstrom as an architect and Chad Kilmer as a BIM/CAD technician. Soderstrom is working on the new Spokane Teachers Credit Union branch in Rathdrum, Idaho, and McKinstry's new office in Pasco. He has 30 years of experience in the profession. He was a self-employed architect in Australia; before that, he owned Soderstrom Architects design studio in Boulder, Colorado. Kilmer is providing drafting, design and construction support for the Spokane Parks and Recreation North Bank Regional Playground and the new Numerica Credit Union branch in Pasco. He has 25 years of drafting experience and has done drafting and design work for architectural and engineering firms, general contractors and developers on a contract basis. Bernardo Wills provides architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and master planning.



In Seattle, DCI Engineers promoted Mat Wies and Erik Pearson to associate principal and Patrick Lindblom to associate. Wies has worked on Wellfound Behavioral Health Hospital in Tacoma and SoMa Towers in Bellevue. He has a specialty in the health care market and experience with concrete high-rises. Pearson has a specialty in mid-rise and high-rise residential buildings, mixed-use and hospitality projects. He contributed engineering support for Avenue Bellevue Towers and the Bullitt Center. Lindblom over a decade of project design experience for office, mixed-use, hospitality, multifamily and commercial retail buildings. His projects include Madison Centre, Cielo, The Bravern, Avenue Bellevue, Block 52 (Apollo) and 300 Terry. DCI is a civil and structural engineering firm.
