City of Tacoma

The Tacoma City Council is currently seeking applicants to fill six positions including, both at-large and district-specific positions on the City Events and Recognitions Committee (CERC). The 11-member committee consists of Tacoma residents, with representatives from five council districts. The committee advises on city-hosted events and special recognition programs. The committee is responsible for planning, reviewing and evaluating events, and soliciting corporate and private sponsorships.

Washington Women's Commission

Gov. Jay Inslee named Regina Malveaux director of the Washington Women's Commission, replacing Michelle Gonzalez, who departed in June. Malveaux was appointed to the commission shortly after its formation in 2018. She is CEO of YWCA Spokane. Working in concert with YWCA USA, she has worked with congressional leaders such as Sen. Patty Murray and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and helped launch the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act campaign in 2019. Her appointment is effective Sept. 1.

710 ESPN Seattle

710 ESPN Seattle received a National Celebration of Service to America Award for Major Market Radio. The award recognizes the station's partnership with Coaching Boys into Men, an evidence-based prevention program that trains and motivates high school coaches to teach healthy relationship skills, and that “violence never equals strength.” Collectively with Athletes as Leaders, a program with a complimentary focus for female athletes, the station along with the non-profit, professional teams and other sponsors have formed a coalition called Team Up Washington.

Clearwater Analytics

In Boise, Clearwater Analytics announced that Alphonse Valbrune has joined the company as chief legal officer. Clearwater reports on more than $4 trillion in investments daily for insurers, investment managers, corporations, pension funds and other institutional investors. Alphonse has extensive experience advising high-growth companies and has held executive leadership roles at Genpact and Headstrong, and was a senior associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Clearwater Analytics is a global SaaS solution for automated investment data aggregation, reconciliation, accounting and reporting.

Humana

Humana appointed Jesse Gamez market president for Humana's Intermountain region Medicare market. Gamez is responsible for managing development, operations and expansion in Washington, Utah, Oregon and Idaho. Gamez was chief operations officer for Optum, formerly Northwest Physicians Network. Gamez's previous roles have included director of operations and director of regional clinical services at Kaiser Permanente and chief executive officer of Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas, Ore. Gamez is based in Federal Way.

Davis

Lane Powell Shareholder Paige L. Davis has been appointed general counsel for Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce (SMCC). SMCC represents 2,600 companies and a regional workforce of approximately 750,000. At Lane Powell, Davis co-chairs the Corporate, Securities and M&A Team and counsels clients on U.S. and cross-border transactions. She also serves as a board member for the Association of Washington Business and World Trade Center Seattle.

City of Seattle

Mayor Jenny A. Durkan announced that the City's Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL) will invest $1 million in youth mentorship and educator diversity programs developed by ACE Academy. Earlier this summer, Mayor Durkan announced a $5 million commitment of resources from the Families, Education, Preschool, and Promise levy and the previous Families and Education levy. ACE Academy developed the Family, Academics, Motivation, and Environment (F.A.M.E.) programs to engage over 300 Black students, educators, community volunteers and parents.

Banzai

Banzai, a SaaS platform for event marketing, announced the acquisition of High Attendance, a provider of virtual and hybrid event management software for the enterprise. Banzai plans to integrate its marketing automation platform Banzai Reach with High Attendance's virtual and hybrid event management platform. Christopher Justice, founder and former CEO of High Attendance, will stay on in a new role as vice president of engineering at Banzai. High Attendance adds 10 people to Banzai's headcount of more than 80 employees. Banzai is an enterprise SaaS provider of marketing automation solutions for webinars and events.

Stratify

In Seattle, Stratify, a venture-backed start-up focused on bringing a collaborative and connected approach to strategic finance, has closed a $4.9 million Series Seed investment to transform financial planning and analysis by tackling the budgeting process. The investment round was led by Madrona Venture Group with participation from Coatue. Founded by former Docker CFO, Brian Camposano, Stratify provides a single view for stakeholders to align, plan and monitor financial and operational performance relative to budget assumptions.

$37M multifamily refi loan in Puyallup

NorthMarq's Bob Spiro and Scott Moline recently secured a $37.4 million refinancing loan for Phase I of Glacier Run, a 240-unit garden apartment complex in Puyallup. The lender wasn't named. The loan carries a 10-year term with a 30-year amortization schedule. Spiro said in a statement, “We were able to provide construction take-out financing that was competitively priced with a streamlined closing process during these challenging times.”

Kidder Mathews announced that Matt McLennan was recently designated a Certified Commercial Investment Member by the CCIM Institute. Based in Tacoma, he's a specialist in industrial leasing and sales in South King and Pierce counties.

National honors for NW winners

Connect Media recently announced the winners of its 2020 Next Generation Awards, which are divided up among national regions. In the Pacific Northwest, those honored were broker Kristyn Krueger of Kidder Mathews; analyst Jennifer Shuch of HFO in Portland; attorney Holly Golden of Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson; mortgage banker Mackinley Robinson of Berkadia; and mortgage banker Robert Meunier of Lee & Associates.

New tenant in Bremerton

The Port of Bremerton just landed a new tenant at its Olympic View Industrial Business Park. WRG Fire Training Simulation Systems, which trains shipboard fire fighters, will occupy modular buildings on a new concrete pad. The property will be ready in January. Terms and brokers weren't announced. “We're so glad to be able to bring WRG in as a tenant,” said port CEO Jim Rothlin. WRG has about 20 on staff. It trains many U.S. Navy personnel, and also has facilities are California and on the East Coast.
