Lee & Associates recently announced that veteran broker Ted Wood had joined the firm. He makes the move from Capstone Commercial Real Estate Advisors. He'll continue to specialize in the multifamily market, also with an emphasis on Snohomish County. The 20-year industry veteran began his career at Cushman & Wakefield in Los Angeles.
Avenue 55 announced the August hiring of Nicholas Yawman as a new development associate. He'll focus on industrial and mixed-use projects. His prior experience was in underwriting and due diligence for a commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) firm.

Confluence Environmental hired Geneva Faulkner as a senior environmental planner based in the firm's Bellingham office. Faulkner has a decade of experience leading National Environmental Policy Act and State Environmental Policy Act analyses and environmental permitting for linear, natural resource, critical areas mitigation, and land use projects. Confluence Environmental specializes in regulatory strategy, compliance, and permitting, and is headquartered in Seattle.
The chief justice of the Alaska Supreme Court plans to retire next year, the court system announced. Chief Justice Joel Bolger said he gave early notice of his intent to retire June 30 to help ensure a smooth transition, given the time it can take to fill a judicial vacancy. Bolger has served on the court since 2013, and his three-year term as chief justice began in July 2018. He served at the District Court and Superior Court levels, as well as on the Court of Appeals before his appointment to the Supreme Court.
Bellevue-based PACCAR recognized its Columbus, Mississippi, factory for 10 years of engine manufacturing. Planning for the engine plant started in 2006 when an international PACCAR team of managers and engineers from Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF were tasked with laying the groundwork for the factory. PACCAR chose Columbus due to its proximity to transportation logistics networks, and the ability to partner with nearby educational institutions that complement the workforce. The Columbus factory has produced more than 250,000 PACCAR MX-11 and MX-13 engines to date.
The Washington Association of Sewer & Water Districts has recognized Washington State Representative Joe Fitzgibbon as an Outstanding Legislator for 2020. Fitzgibbon, as lead sponsor of HB 2565, championed a bill passing requirements for labeling disposable wipes products. Founded in 1995, the Washington Association of Sewer & Water Districts represents the state's special purpose sewer and water districts. These districts provide services to 25% of the citizens of Washington. There are 176 special purpose sewer and water districts in the state.

The Partners Group, a Northwest-based insurance and financial consulting firm, announced it has hired Shelli Stayner and Denise Collins to expand its service area into Idaho. Stayner and Collins will open and manage the new Boise office for The Partners Group. Stayner spent 19 years at Mercer, most recently as the principal and office business leader of the Boise office, as well as senior consultant for large complex clients. Collins spent 21 years at Mercer, where she served as senior client manager.
Airport and civil engineering consulting firm, HNTB named Omo Esemuede aviation manager at its Bellevue office. Esemuede previously worked on the JFK International Airport redevelopment program, and has worked on airport projects around the world. HNTB is based in Kansas City.
The Institute of Real Estate Management Western Washington and the IREM Foundation have partnered raise money to help those in need in the local community. They have identified three organizations to receive donations: DESC (Downtown Emergency Service Center); All In Seattle, which collects and distributes resources for food security, communities and workers, small businesses, housing and rental assistance, and families & children affected by COVID-19; and New Beginnings, a local group assisting victims of domestic abuse through housing assistance, legal advocacy and mental health/counseling services. To contribute to the relief fund go to irem.org/giving/western-washington. The IREM Foundation will Match up to $1,000 of local funds raised to support local social service agencies.
Comcast Business announced that eight black-owned small businesses in Portland were recipients of Comcast RISE awards. The awards will allow these businesses to receive consulting, media and creative production services from Effectv, the advertising sales division of Comcast Cable, or technology upgrades from Comcast Business based on their specific needs. The eight awardees are Zen Nail Spa, American Heroes Café, Amalfi's Restaurant, Raap Counseling and Consulting, Cottontails Personal Styling, Batter On Deck food truck, Meals for Heels, and Third Eye Books. The next phase of Comcast RISE, a multi-year, multi-faceted initiative launched in October to help strengthen small businesses hard hit by COVID-19, opens eligibility to include Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)-owned, small businesses. Craig Curtis joined Mithun's Seattle office as partner and director of emerging building technologies. Curtis is an architect known for innovative, sustainable design and leadership in the use of cross-laminated timber, mass timber and modular construction. He leads interdisciplinary teams on developer-driven multifamily, workplace and mixed-use projects. His portfolio of work includes development of mass timber modular platforms, the net zero energy and zero carbon target Catalyst project in Spokane and Seattle's Bullitt Center, the world's first commercial office building to achieve Living Building certification. He is a fellow of the American Institute of Architects. Mithun provides architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, urban design and planning services.



Bremerton-based Rice Fergus Miller hired Taylor Vigilia as an interior designer, Elaine Liffgens as a senior interior designer and Masa Beppu as an architectural designer. Vigilia is in the firm's hospitality studio and has over four years of experience focused on hospitality design. Liffgens joins the fire and emergency studio. She has over 25 years of experience on projects throughout the country. Beppu joins the fire and emergency studio with over eight years of experience. Rice Fergus Miller is an architecture, interior design, planning and visualization firm.

Spokane-based Bernardo|Wills Architects hired Ginny Edwards as a senior project administrator. Edwards is streamlining and refining the firm's project management practices and office procedures. She also is supporting its architecture, landscape architecture and interior design staff on design commissions, assisting with project start-up, communication, cost control, resource scheduling and project close-out procedures. She has 25 years of project administration and management experience. She most recently was a project administrator for Coffman Engineers in Seattle. Bernardo|Wills provides architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and master planning.
