Stoel Rives

Stoel Rives announced nine attorneys were promoted to the partnership effective January 1, 2022. This year's class of new partners includes six women and three men who practice in the firm's offices in Anchorage, Portland, Salt Lake City, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. James Graves and Kate Mathews are the new Stoel Rives partners in the Seattle office. Graves is an Environment, Land Use and Natural Resources attorney. He counsels clients working with state and federal regulators through all phases of investigation and remediation of contaminated sites, and is experienced in cost recovery through litigation and alternative dispute resolution, including equitable allocation proceedings at complex, multi-party sediment cleanup sites. Mathews is a Real Estate & Construction attorney with a specialized practice focus on real-estate secured financing and affordable housing development. Her client base includes private real estate developers, tax-credit investors, and public housing authorities. She is experienced in major acquisition and disposition deals and development of multi-family, mixed-use and industrial real estate projects, including structuring, construction and permanent financing, leasing, low-income housing tax credit financing, and workforce housing initiatives.

City of Edmonds

After four decades of public service, including seven years in the role of economic and community services director for the city of Edmonds, Patrick Doherty announced plans to retire at the end of 2021. After earning both bachelor's and master's degrees in Urban Planning, Doherty started his career in the town of Los Gatos, California in September 1981, going on to serve in various other cities in the country before coming to Edmonds, but most notably for almost 17 years at the city of Seattle as its design review manager, and 13 years at the city of Federal Way as its community and economic development director. Initially appointed by Mayor Dave Earling, Doherty started with city of Edmonds in July of 2014 to serve as economic development and community services director. Initial responsibilities focused on tourism promotion, business attraction, stewardship of the former Strategic Action Plan, leading communications and PR, as well as intergovernmental relations and the city's lobbying efforts in Olympia and Washington, DC. Later, Doherty worked on the Diversity Commission, and with Arts and Culture Manager Frances Chapin to achieve Creative District designation of the greater Edmonds downtown area – the first such designation in Washington State. The recruitment process will begin shortly to fill vacant position. It is expected that process will culminate in the first part of the new year. Ultimately, the Mayor will appoint a new director, subject to City Council confirmation.

PACCAR

PACCAR was honored as a 2021 “Top Company for Women to Work for in Transportation,” and three PACCAR executives were recognized for their industry leadership, by the Women in Trucking Association (“WIT”). WIT is a non-profit organization that encourages the employment and promotes the accomplishments of women in the trucking industry. WIT solicited nominations for companies with a culture that supports gender diversity, flexible hours, competitive compensation and benefits, professional development and career advancement opportunities. Employees and business partners voted to determine the honorees. Lily Ley, PACCAR vice president and chief information officer, is named as a finalist for WIT's 2021 “Influential Women in Trucking” award. The award highlights the achievements of female leaders in the trucking industry. Brooke Vasquez, PACCAR Parts senior director of marketing, and Erin Luke, assistant director of North American materials, are honored as 2021 “Top Women to Watch in Transportation.” This award recognizes top performers in the industry who provide leadership and support to other women and have had significant career accomplishments in the last year.

Seattle-based Walsh Construction Co. hired Thao Nguyen as project administrator, Carlos Mendoza as project engineer, Kara Russell as marketing specialist and Vicente Mendoza as assistant superintendent. Nguyen previously worked with the U.S. Green Building Council as an operations specialist and the U.S. Zero Waste Business Council as a certification assistant. She holds a bachelor's degree in environmental science from the University of California, Irvine. Carlos Mendoza has over four years of experience in residential, commercial and heavy civil construction. He previously worked as a staff geologist at both Wood E&IS and Associated Earth Sciences, and holds a bachelor's degree in environmental sciences (geology) from the University of Washington. Russell has over a decade of marketing experience, previously working for the USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council as an assistant marketing manager and the Martha & Mary organization as a development manager. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications with a focus in public relations from Washington State University. Vicente Mendoza has over 13 years of experience in the construction industry. He is working on the expansion of the Eliseo retirement campus in Tacoma.

Severson

Michael Severson is the new business development manager for UMC's Industrial Group, where he is helping guide expansions in the Portland, southwest Washington and eastern Washington markets. Severson has over 18 years of experience in multiple industrial and high-tech fields, most recently as a sales representative with Victaulic Mechanical. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Portland State University. Mukilteo-based UMC is a mechanical engineering, facilities maintenance and construction company.

Sound Transit

Andy Izquierdo joined Sound Transit as chief communications officer, and will help support delivery of the country's largest transit expansion program, according to the agency. Izquierdo comes from Waste Management, where he was chief communications officer. Prior to that, he held communications leadership positions with Yum Brands, PetSmart, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals and Belk.

ABC of Western Washington

DTG Enterprises of Mill Creek joined the Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington. The company provides recycling services and contracts under DTG Recycling Group. Gwen Prince is the sales manager.

IRG Physical & Hand Therapy

IRG Physical & Hand Therapy announced the acquisition of Cascade Children's Therapy, located in Mill Creek, changing the clinic's name to IRG Cascade Children's Therapy – Mill Creek. This marks the company's 36th expansion in physical therapy, occupational therapy and affiliate clinics. IRG will retain existing staff members of Cascade Children's Therapy, continuing to provide more than 32 years of professional experience to new and existing clients. The clinic will continue to offer physical, occupational and speech/language therapy services to youth from infancy onwards. IRG Cascade Children's Therapy – Mill Creek is located at 16030 Bothell-Everett Hwy, Suite 140, Mill Creek. IRG Physical & Hand Therapy is headquartered in Mill Creek, and operates over 30 outpatient orthopedic clinics throughout the Puget Sound region.

Echodyne

Echodyne, a radar platform company, announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Innovation Team has awarded the company a $20M indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract. The five-year agreement enables CBP to expand deployments of Echodyne's radars and explore new applications for the radars along the country's land and marine borders and ports of entry. Echodyne provides its technology directly to DHS as well as through an increasing number of integrators that supply systems to DHS and its components. Radars deployed in field environments enhance agent safety and provide intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities not previously available. Echodyne has already completed delivery of 30 Echodyne EchoGuard Radar Systems under the terms of this contract. Echodyne is headquartered in Kirkland, and serves customers across the defense, national security, and critical infrastructure protection markets worldwide.

PEMCO

PEMCO Mutual Insurance was named one of America's Best Insurance Companies for 2022 by Forbes. The Seattle-based insurer was one of only 90 insurance companies across the nation to be recognized by the publication on its inaugural list of top-performing insurers, and it ranked first in the auto insurance category based on customer feedback. To develop its America's Best Insurance Companies list, Forbes partnered with Statista, a consumer data company, and surveyed more than 16,000 policyholders across the United States to gather feedback on their current insurer. The company evaluated 4,200 insurance carriers based on eight key metrics, including overall satisfaction and whether customers would recommend their insurer to family and friends. Additionally, PEMCO announced that Trent Stoker has been promoted to the role of director of next generation (NextGen) technology strategy and implementation. In his new role, Stoker will work with leaders and subject-matter experts across PEMCO to orchestrate strategy development, future-state visioning, selection and initial implementation of PEMCO's insurance processing system platform components. Stoker joined PEMCO in 2018 as a claims quality advisor. In 2020, Stoker led an enterprise-wide team that implemented scenario planning and helped PEMCO prepare for operational changes during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to his work at PEMCO, Stoker currently serves as chair of the Washington Insurance Guaranty Association.
