AHBL announced the following promotions. Bart Brynestad, PE has been promoted to associate principal. Scott Kaul, PE has been promoted to senior project manager, and Larry Higgins, PE, Tom Dargan, PE, and Alex Campbell, AICP have all been promoted to AHBL project managers.

Brynestad, PE has been promoted to an associate Principal within the Civil Division at AHBL. Brynestad is an experienced civil engineer with nine years of technical experience on all aspects of land development engineering. His experience includes leading the civil design on residential, commercial, and industrial projects. He has experience with many municipalities throughout Washington and helps them meet their goals and schedules during the land use, permitting, and construction phases. As an associate principal, Brynestad will continue to manage his portfolio of work and work closely with the principals to learn AHBL's business model and contribute to its continued success in the private land development market.

Kaul, PE has been promoted to a senior project manager within the Civil Division – Tacoma. Kaul is an experienced civil engineer with 17 years' experience designing a variety of project types including residential, commercial, municipal, educational, military, and industrial. Kaul's technical experience includes a broad knowledge of site development including entitlements, and site utility design and calculations, site grading, storm drainage design, AutoCAD drawings, drawing revisions, and construction administration. His work with municipalities in the Pacific Northwest, affords him relationships with the permitting agencies, benefiting his private clients with support navigating the land use and permitting process in a timely manner, preserving project schedules and budgets. Kaul is familiar with alternative delivery methods including design/build and general contractor/construction manager. He primarily manages projects for developers and architects on single family subdivision, multi-family, commercial, and mixed-use project types.

Higgins, PE has been promoted to project manager within the Structural Division of AHBL. Higgins has spent 25 years of professional engineering experience work for AHBL on a variety of project types, including industrial development for industrial development including office buildings, warehouses, and distribution centers. He has demonstrated ability to create cost effective designs and unique solutions using a variety of structural materials and systems. Prior to becoming a professional engineer, Higgins was an electronic engineer for 12 years working for the Department of Defense and NASA. He will be managing projects for many of AHBL's industrial clients with a specialization in concrete tilt-up and multi-story industrial construction.

Dargan has been promoted to project manager at AHBL within the Civil Division of AHBL. Dargan is a civil engineer and brings over 20 years' experience working on public and private projects, including military, healthcare, commercial, education, and data centers. His design experience includes stormwater modeling and reporting, sanitary sewer design, water distribution systems, ADA accessibility, and site grading. Dargan has recent experience working on education and field renovation projects. He will continue to work with a wide range of clients.

Campbell has been promoted to project manager at AHBL in the planning team. He is a seasoned planner with nearly a decade of experience working on a wide range of planning, development, and parks projects for private and public-sector clients throughout Washington. He brings specialized experience with development review, planning policy development and implementation, code writing and interpretation, environmental review, and parks and open space planning. Campbell's public engagement experience includes developing outreach materials, leading public presentations/workshops, and briefings to elected officials. He offers demonstrated expertise of working within the context of Washington's Growth Management Act (GMA), State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA), and Shoreline Management Act (SMA). Campbell's extensive current planning and development review experience is highlighted by his role as the City of Black Diamond's reviewing planner for the Ten Trails and Lawson Hills Master Planned Developments (MPDs), two of the largest active MPDs in the state.

Barghausen Consulting Engineers, Inc, has promoted nine employees and hired one new employee since the start of November 2022.

Mackenzie Allan has joined Barghausen as an assistant planner in the Kent office. Allan earned her undergraduate and Master's in geography, along with her GIS certification from George Washington University. She previously worked as a senior research associate for the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy, where she focused on urban transportation planning and policy research. She was also a planning associate for Adobu; an ADU company where she focused on permitting and ADU policy research.

Julissa Riberal has been promoted to project engineer. Riberal joined the Roseville, CA team in September of 2020. She delivers accurate, comprehensive, and aesthetically minded plans to clients.

Matt Colling has been promoted to project engineer. Colling started with Barghausen in October of 2017 at the Chehalis office. Colling works on various projects, including residential and commercial developments for key clients across the Puget Sound. He has become the storm drainage go-to for many challenging sites.

Rigo Ortiz has been promoted to people and culture administrator. Ortiz joined Barghausen in March of 2022. Ortiz is the first person that new hires get to spend time with at Barghausen. He also gets to represent the firm at career fairs.

Charm Salvino has been promoted to project engineer. Salvino began working with Barghausen in July of 2018; she initially completed commercial and residential projects. Since then, she has taken on a diverse project base that include complicated grading designs and BMP design on constrained sites. Salvino works a lot with industrial clients, navigating complex standards and structures.

Mitch Anderson has been promoted to senior architectural CAD technician. Anderson started with Barghausen in February of 2022 at the Kent office. Anderson helps solve problems and has exceptional drafting skills.

Brian Dow has been promoted to project engineer. Dow started with Barghausen in January of 2014 at the Long Beach, CA office. He plays more of a leadership role with coordinating design changes and layout updates. His quality control and organization skills along with his growing knowledge of design layouts have helped the department produce more consistent and accurate drawings.

Ric Francais has been promoted to senior project engineer. Francais has been the firm's lead electrical design engineer for the past 11 years, and works out of the Long Beach office. He has grown and adapted to emerging electrical technology in the industry related to various code updates and new vehicle fueling systems. He works on all electrical-related designs related to power, monitoring and lighting and has a deep knowledge of codes, both old and current.

Bryan Newberry has been promoted to survey construction project manager. Newberry joined Barghausenin 2016 and is an integral member of the survey department, taking a lead role with construction calculation needs.

Israel Siria Cornejo has been promoted to project engineer. Siria Cornejo has been a key member of the Long Beach team since 2017. He single-handedly took over the design and coordination for an out-of-country client, which included attending numerous international trips for various construction meetings. He has also played a key part in improving master drawings by introducing time-saving techniques for equipment take-offs and buoyancy calculations. He has also played a significant role in our field surveying by traveling all over the country to perform equipment recons.

IonQ

IonQ announced plans to open the first known dedicated quantum computing manufacturing facility in the United States in Bothell. The new facility will house IonQ's growing R&D and manufacturing teams. With public support from U.S. Senator Patty Murray and Congresswoman Suzan DelBene, U.S. representative from Washington's 1st congressional district, the announcement is part of IonQ's broader intent to invest $1 billion through expansion in the Pacific Northwest over the next 10 years. The 65,000 square foot facility will house IonQ's second quantum data center and be the primary production engineering location for IonQ in North America. IonQ hopes to add thousands of new jobs and opportunities to the region over the coming years. IonQ Vice President of Product Engineering Dave Mehuys, who joined IonQ in March 2022 from a senior leadership role at Psiquantum, will oversee the build out of the new facility. With over two decades of experience managing systems hardware engineering, module component engineering, customer service, and manufacturing operations, Mehuys will play an integral part of IonQ's growth in the region. IonQ was founded in 2015 by Christopher Monroe and Jungsang Kim based on 25 years of research.

UBS Private Wealth Management announced that The Matthews Group, an advisor team in the firm's Bellevue branch office, has been ranked the top team in Washington on the Forbes Best-In-State Wealth Management Teams list for 2023. The team was also named to the Forbes America's Top Wealth Management Teams, Private Wealth list for 2022, as the only advisor team in Washington to be named to the list. The 19-member team, led by partners Michael Matthews, Tyler Matthews and Melanie Matthews, is responsible for managing $2 billion in investable client assets. Together, they bring a multi-disciplinary approach to delivering advice to ultra-high net worth individuals, business owners, entrepreneurs and multi-generational families. The Production Network

The Production Network (TPN) and Evia announced their merger as Evia joins TPN to create a production agency with more than 63 years of combined experience. The transaction is effective immediately. TPN has roots in experiential design and production along with creating interactive immersive experiences in Unreal Engine 5. Evia brings 360-digital content strategy and production expertise with a focus on the remote audience journey — from promotion and registration through the event experience and on-demand content. Together, the agency will offer digital strategies to build solutions for clients across the globe. All members of the TPN and Evia executive teams will remain in leadership positions with Allison DeLeone serving as chief executive officer and Hilary Laney as chief revenue officer. TPN, based in Seattle, was founded over 30 years ago by John Vadino. With three decades of expertise is digital media, Evia offers scalable services to support onsite, hybrid, and virtual events.

Wilmar

Wilmar and Rainier Partners appointed Ken Hartman as chief executive officer. Wilmar is a supplier, distributor, and category manager of tools and equipment to the automotive aftermarket and other industries. The company partnered with Rainier Partners in late 2021.

Hartman has over two decades of leadership experience in the tool and equipment industry. Prior to joining Wilmar, Hartman served as vice president & general manager of ESAB, a global producer of welding and cutting equipment and consumables. Before ESAB, Hartman was president of Mac Tools at Stanley Black & Decker, vice president of aftermarket at Thermo King, and held various leadership positions at Chief Automotive Technologies and Snap-On Tools. Wilmar was founded in 1971 and is headquartered in Kent. The Cantalini family will continue to be actively involved with operations and management. Rainier Partners is a Seattle-based private equity firm with over $300 million in assets under management that invests in lower middle-market services businesses.

Pace Material Handling

Miner, the dock and door division of OnPoint Group, acquired Pace Material Handling, an independent dock and door service provider in the Pacific Northwest. Based in the Greater Seattle area, Pace Material Handling has been providing design, install and service expertise for commercial docks and doors across Washington and Oregon for more than 30 years. This acquisition expands Miner's service reach on the West Coast into the Pacific Northwest. Since 1989, Pace Material Handling has been supporting material handling systems for the warehousing and distribution industries, as well as general contractors, construction companies and property managers. OnPoint Group's portfolio of companies includes Miner, TrueSource, Concentric, and TFS, providing services in everything from forklift fleet management to forklift power, critical backup power, docks, doors and many critical facility maintenance trades. OnPoint is headquartered in Perrysburg, Ohio.

Alliant Insurance Services hired Aran Buchan as vice president. Based in Seattle, Buchan will design, implement, and manage insurance and risk management solutions to a client base in the Northwest region. Buchan joins Alliant with experience providing property and casualty insurance and risk management solutions to businesses across a range of industries and disciplines. Prior to joining Alliant, Buchan was a producer with a global insurance brokerage and consulting firm. He earned his bachelor's degree in public relations from Central Washington University. Alliant Insurance Services is a distributor of diversified insurance products and services that operates through a network of specialized national platforms and local offices.

Farmington State Bank

Farmington State Bank, d/b/a Moonstone Bank, announced that the bank is returning to its original mission as a community bank and is discontinuing its pursuit to develop banking services for industries such as crypto assets or hemp/cannabis. The change in strategy reflects the impact of recent events in the crypto assets industry and the resultant changing regulatory environment relating to crypto asset businesses. Farmington State Bank will cease using the Moonstone Bank name. The Farmington State Bank brand will feature prominently throughout the bank's branding. Farmington State Bank is a Washington State bank that specializes in serving the needs of the local community in and around Farmington, Washington. With roots in the community since 1887, the bank has operated out of the same building since 1911 where it operates its single branch.

Graham Construction & Management hired John Baker, DBIA, as district manager for its Seattle operations. Baker has 20 years of experience in executive leadership and project development. He previously worked at GenCap Construction and Mortenson Construction, where he delivered over $1 billion worth of projects across the Puget Sound region. The company says Baker has become an expert in GC/CM and design-build contracting, and has extensive experience with alternative delivery projects ranging from $50 million to $500 million in all market sectors.

The Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Washington elected its new board members for 2023-2025. They include: Jeff White of Holmberg Mechanical, president; Frank Leonard of Key Mechanical, vice president; Matt Campbell of General Mechanical, secretary/treasurer; and Stacy Johnson of Auburn Mechanical, immediate past president. Also, new directors are Geno Timmons of Enviromech and Maria Boyer of MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions. MCAWW membership consists of union-signatory plumbing, piping and HVAC contractors throughout Western Washington.

Renton Technical College

Dallas-based Invitation Homes said it has signed new partnership agreements with four trade schools in select markets, including Renton Technical College. Associates with Invitation Homes will work with these schools to raise awareness of the value an education in skilled trades can provide, and highlight potential career pathways. These partnerships are part of the company's skilled trades initiative called Invitation to SkillUp, which launched in 2021. In addition to raising awareness of a skilled trades education, the initiative seeks to expand access to these schools through need-based and minority scholarships. The other trade schools are in North Carolina, Florida and California. Invitation Homes leases single-family homes in 16 markets across the U.S.
