Steffener

Gov. Jay Inslee appointed Will Steffener to the Snohomish County Superior Court. He will replace judge Janice Ellis, who is retiring June 30. Since 2021, Steffener has maintained a private practice at Deno Millikan Law Firm in Everett, handling family law, probate and estate planning, landlord/tenant law, and other civil litigation matters. From 2013 to 2021, he worked at the Snohomish County Prosecutor's Office in its Municipal Law and Involuntary Treatment Act units. Earlier in his legal career, he worked as a criminal defense attorney at the Snohomish County Public Defender Association. Steffener has led the Snohomish County Bar Association in various roles, and served as its president in 2013. He holds a bachelor's degree from Western Washington University and a law degree from the University of Montana School of Law.

O'Neill

Beaverton, Oregon-based Nike announced senior leadership changes: Heidi O'Neill, currently president of consumer and marketplace, will become president of consumer, product and brand; Craig Williams, currently president of the Jordan brand, will become president of geographies and marketplace; Matthew Friend, executive vice president and CFO, will expand his responsibilities to include procurement, global places and services, and demand and supply management; Sarah Mensah, vice president/general manager of North America, will become president of the Jordan brand; Andy Campion, chief operating officer, will take on a new leadership role as managing director of strategic business ventures; and Scott Uzzell, currently CEO of Converse, will become vice president/general manager of North America, reporting to Williams.

A 24-year Nike veteran, O'Neill's previous roles include president of Nike Direct, accelerating Nike's retail and digital-commerce business. O'Neill was also responsible for creating and leading Nike women's business.

Williams will lead Nike's four geographies and marketplace across its direct and wholesale business. In addition, Williams will lead Nike's supply chain and logistics. Williams joined Nike in 2019 as president of the Jordan brand. Williams has decades of enterprise experience building global brands and creating consumer relationships.

As part of his new role, Campion will oversee Nike Virtual Studios and lead teams across Nike's world headquarters and Los Angeles-based offices.

Michael Spillane, president of consumer creation, will retire later in 2023 after 16 years with the company.

Uzzell's successor will be named shortly.

Koz gets $14M refi in Snohomish

Cushman & Wakefield and Greystone recently announced a $14 million refinancing package to benefit Koz on Weaver Road, which is near the city of Snohomish. Koz completed the 100-unit senior community three years ago. Dave Karson, Chris Moyer, Paul Roeter and John Spreitzer of C&W represented Koz, and Greystone originated the Fannie Mae loan. The 10-year fixed-rate financing carries full-term interest only. Moyer said in a statement that the fully leased project fills “a void in the market, offering high-quality, affordable age-restricted housing.” Cathy Reines leads Koz, a very active developer of workforce and student housing in our market and Portland. She added, “Snohomish is an idyllic location that as an owner and developer we value greatly, and maintain a positive outlook for its future.”

Bellevue-based SirionLabs, a provider of AI-powered contract lifecycle management (CLM), appointed Sujay Rao as its first chief product officer. This newly created role encompasses product strategy, product management and product marketing functions. Rao will oversee Sirion's entire portfolio of authoring, performance and AI products. Rao brings more than 25 years of experience in product management and the SaaS space to Sirion. Rao will help Sirion to develop and expand conversational contracting AI in its product capabilities, grow market share in the mid-market segment, and extend its product capabilities in adjacent areas of CLM, such as procurement and sales operations. Prior to joining Sirion, Rao served as chief product officer for Simpplr, an AI-powered employee experience platform. Previously, at Korn Ferry Digital he launched the Intelligence Cloud, an AI-powered talent intelligence platform that draws insights from external labor market data and internal workforce data to help large enterprises attract, engage and retain their talent.

Pivotal Commware

Pivotal Commware, a privately held mmWave company focused on expanding 5G wireless coverage, announced it is relocating to new corporate headquarters in Bothell. The new facility will accommodate company growth and research needs, and include 10,000 square feet of lab space, as well as test chambers, according to Pivotal CEO Brian Deutsch.

SheerID, a Portland-based company that provides identity marketing, announced it has joined the MACH Alliance, a not-for-profit industry body dedicated to advocating for open, best-of-breed technology ecosystems. MACH Alliance membership certifies that SheerID meets the MACH standard for modern technology: microservices based, API-first, cloud-native SaaS, and headless. SheerID allows merchants to develop personalized offers for consumer communities like students, teachers, and healthcare professionals. SheerID has developed a digital verification engine that connects to over 20,000 authoritative data sources through a single API, to determine consumer eligibility for personalized promotions and loyalty programs. Local engineering, planning, and code compliance consulting firm BHC Consultants, LLC has announced the following leadership changes. After serving as president of BHC since June 2017, Ronald Dorn, PE, has stepped down, and the board of directors has appointed James (Jim) Gross, PE, PMP, former executive vice president and director of engineering, as the new president as of January 2023.

Dorn stepped down from the board of directors in May 2023, and will continue to manage projects through the end of 2023. Dorn has more than 40 years of engineering experience managing, planning, and designing a wide variety of municipal utility projects. He has served on the company board for fourteen years and was previously the director of engineering for the company. Gross has more than 30 years of civil and environmental engineering consulting experience, primarily in drinking water and wastewater planning, design and construction support.

Cameron Ochiltree, PE a senior engineer with BHC for seven years has been named executive vice president and promoted to director of engineering. Ochiltree has 25 years of experience working as a principal, project manager, and lead engineer primarily on wastewater collection, conveyance, and treatment system facilities through planning, permitting, design, and construction. Ochiltree will lead an engineering department with more than 45 engineers specializing in drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, solid waste, structural, and electrical engineering.

William (Willie) Hill, CBO, ACO will be retiring at the end of 2023 after serving as the manager of building code and construction compliance at BHC for 14 years.

Shane Daugherty, AIA, NCARB has been appointed as the new manager of building code and construction compliance as of January 2023. Daugherty is a licensed architect with more than 20 years of experience in commercial, hospital, and residential projects through all stages from planning to completion. His background includes architectural and construction project management, and the Factory Assembled Structures (FAS) program at Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. Daugherty will lead a building code and construction compliance group that includes eight in-house certified building inspectors able to address all aspects of building code compliance.

Herrera has welcomed five new employees based out of Washington and Wyoming: Jimmy Esteban, Erynne van Zee, Cameron Sloan, Nikki VandePutte and Julia McInerney.

Esteban is a civil engineer with four years of experience designing transportation systems, green stormwater infrastructure, and storm drainage systems across the Pacific Northwest. He has a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Seattle University and will be based out of the firm's Seattle office.

Van Zee is an environmental engineer and landscape designer with a background in technical design and analysis, community engagement/co-design strategies, interdisciplinary research, and integrated water resources design and planning. She has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from Tufts University and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Washington. She will be based out of Herrera's Seattle office.

Sloan is an environmental scientist based out of Herrera's Wyoming office. He comes to Herrera from the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality where he worked as a Natural Resource Analyst, overseeing the environmental compliance of mining operations across the state. Sloan has a Bachelor of Science in Energy Resource Management and Development from the University of Wyoming.

VandePutte is an environmental technician based out of Herrera's Seattle office. She has experience working on restoration projects, identifying salmonoid, native plant, and invasive species, and conducting field research. VandePutte is a graduate of Western Washington University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Freshwater and Terrestrial Ecology Emphasis.

McInerney is a HR generalist based out of Herrera's Seattle office. She comes to Herrera from Synapse Product Development where she worked as an HR and recruiting coordinator. McInerney has experience with employee onboarding, recruiting, interview processes, and database management. She is a graduate of Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in International Affairs.

Opsis Architecture announced new leadership promotions within the firm and new staff.

Chris Roberts, AIA, was promoted to Opsis principal. Roberts has 19 years of experience at Opsis and more than 27 years in the architectural profession. He brings a depth of expertise in architectural design and project management to the sports, recreation and higher education projects he is a part of. His skills and expertise have been honed from work on projects ranging in size and complexity from the award winning, long span mass timber Idaho Central Credit Union Arena at the University of Idaho to performing arts centers, libraries, and recreation centers throughout the pacific northwest.

Erica Dunn, AIA, CPHC, LEED AP, was promoted to the role of associate principal. Dunn joined Opsis in September 2022. She brings more than 19 years of experience in architecture with the last 12 years dedicated to zero energy projects. Dunn is a recognized leader in sustainable design, and was recently honored as one of eight new Fellows in the New Building Institute's Senior Fellows program.

Conor Wood, AIA, has joined Opsis as a designer and construction administration specialist with 12 years of architectural, interior design and project management experience from a diverse set of project types. His previous work encompasses residential, commercial office, hospitality, retail, laboratory, and higher education buildings.

Engineering consulting firm Perteet Inc. has welcomed Erik Martin as the director of its South Sound operations. Martin brings more than 17 years at Pierce and Lewis Counties, most recently in the role of Lewis County manager. He has also worked in consulting as an engineer, project manager, and principal.

Martin has expertise in a diverse range of areas, including transportation, planning and environmental projects, basin-wide flooding solutions, community development, and infrastructure improvements. This move will expand Perteet's multidisciplinary services to all of southwestern Washington.

Opening day is Wednesday, June 7 for the Kenmore Farmers Market. This year will brings new, additional vendors for a more robust market as well as Food Access Programs including WIC & Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. The market is located at NE 181st Next to Town Square and runs every Wednesday through August from 3 pm -7 pm.
