In May, Elizabeth Swing was promoted from the position of design engineer to project engineer in Barghausen's Roseville, CA office. She joined Barghausen in April 2022. Barghausen Consulting Engineers is headquartered in Kent and works extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest and California.

LaBrie

Eric LaBrie, president of ESM Consulting Engineers, recently announced his upcoming retirement from the firm effective at the end of 2023. While the formal announcement is just now being shared publicly, LaBrie has been working closely with the firm's ownership group over the last few years to help facilitate a smooth transfer of his responsibilities and management of the firm.

Trevor Stiff, current VP and director of engineering will assume the role of president following LaBrie's retirement.

His leadership has left an indelible mark on ESM and its employees, shaping the company's identity, and driving it toward a bright future. Parametrix has welcomed four new employees, Amber Bailey, Shira DeGrood, Ingrid Kimball, and Julian Franco.

Bailey has over a decade of project management and technical experience in environmental compliance, including regulatory compliance management and support for oil spill prevention, Industrial Stormwater General Permit compliance, and dangerous and hazardous waste management. She comes to Parametrix from Boeing and was previously with Farallon Consulting, LLC. Bailey's experience includes technical report writing; Washington State annual dangerous waste reporting; emergency planning; Community Right-to-Know Act reporting; and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plan evaluation, preparation, and compliance. She joins the firm's Environmental Planning and Compliance team in Seattle.

DeGrood has nearly two decades of technical and project management experience in contaminated site assessment and remediation for soil, groundwater, and sediment projects. She comes to Parametrix from AECOM and brings technical expertise in site characterization, remedial and source control actions, contaminant fate, transport assessments and associated risk-based conceptual site model development, and technical allocation for complex sediment superfund sites. Her experience includes work with regulatory oversight by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, Washington Department of Ecology, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and California Department of Toxic Substances Control. DeGrood joins the firm's Environmental Planning and Compliance team in Portland.

Kimball has over 16 years of experience in the environmental sector. She comes to Parametrix from ICF and has extensive experience in permit preparation and procurement for in-water work including Section 401/404 of the Clean Water Act, Hydraulic Project Approval, and Critical Areas Ordinances. Kimball is a project manager and technical author of preliminary jurisdictional determinations, environmental impact statements, environmental assessments, biological evaluations, and critical habitat reports. She joins the firm's Environmental Planning and Compliance team in Seattle.

Franco has joined Parametrix as an owner's representative in the Seattle office with nearly two decades of experience in program, project, and change management and delivery.

Franco comes to Parametrix from Amazon Web Services where he served as a Technical Program Manager for the Electrical Solutions Team. He is a Certified Project Management Professional with a degree in engineering. Throughout his career, Franco has worked on projects for Sound Transit, King County, Seattle City Light, and Seattle Public Utilities.

Seattle architecture firm Schemata Workshop has announced the promotion of four employees to the position of associate: Miles Cook, AIA; Shweta Sinha, AIA; Margaret Tyson; and Joann Ware, AIA.

Cook brings his 17+ years of experience to focus on BIM standards and workflow optimization. A native of New Mexico, he is a certified Passive House consultant with experience in a variety of public sector and institutional project types. Inspired by a strong interest in bridging the gap between high-performance sustainable design and housing affordability, his work includes research and development of streamlined prefabricated building systems aimed at optimizing the balance of cost, energy efficiency, and constructability.

With more than 18 years' experience, Sinha will focus on design innovation in the firm, and is currently leading Schemata Workshop's summer design housing studio for WSU graduate level students. Sinha earned her Master of Architecture degree at the University of Southern California and has worked in Los Angeles, Princeton, and Bangalore on a wide range of projects ranging from expansive museums to community schools. Her most recent experience in the Pacific Northwest is in multifamily housing projects that provide affordable and innovative living in urban neighborhoods.

Tyson, the firm's business manager, has been with the studio for seven years, and will continue to focus on profitability and efficient business processes, as well as strategic planning for the firm. As an enthusiastic and advanced Ajera user, she uses her expertise to further an integrated approach to projects. Tyson has more than 20 years of experience in business management for progressive and nonprofit organizations and holds an Executive MBA from TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.

Ware has 13 years of experience in architectural practice and real estate development. Her focus is on the technical aspects of project delivery. Ware has a diverse background in architecture - rooted in traditional practice but informed by five years as an Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellow and affordable housing developer at InterIm CDA. She has been with Schemata Workshop since 2016 and is well-versed in publicly funded projects and integrated design processes, has a deep passion for place-based participatory design processes, and meaningful client engagement. Ware received her Master of Architecture degree from the Rhode Island School of Design.

BECU

BECU, the country's fourth-largest credit union, hired Nathan Ramachandran as its executive vice president and chief technology officer. In his new role, Ramachandran is responsible for leading the organization's technology operations, architecture, engineering and business solutions teams. He joins BECU with 20 years of technology leadership and execution experience, including senior roles at Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo. Most recently, he led the Data & Applied Intelligence division for Accenture's Financial Services West Market. He holds a Master of Science in Mathematics from Annamalai University and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from University of Madras. He also earned a Certified Cost and Management Accountant degree from Institute of Cost Accountants of India, an Advanced Software Engineering diploma from National Centre for Software Technology, and Amazon Web Services certification. Fumbi Chima, BECU's chief technology and transformation officer, will support Ramachandran's transition to BECU until she departs the credit union at the end of 2023.

Moda Health is now offering large group plans in Idaho. Moda Health entered the Idaho market in 2022. Moda Health continues to partner with the Saint Alphonsus Health Alliance network; the Patient Quality Alliance network, a comprehensive network of hospitals and physicians throughout Southeast Idaho; and Minidoka Memorial Hospital, along with other local providers. Moda Health's Individual and Employer Group plans for 2023 are now available in Ada, Adams, Bannock, Bingham, Boise, Canyon, Caribou, Elmore, Gem, Minidoka, Oneida, Owyhee, Payette, Power and Washington counties. T-Mobile

T-Mobile US appointed finance executive James Kavanaugh to its Board of Directors. He will also serve on the board's Audit Committee, effective August 1, 2023. Kavanaugh's career in technology and telecommunications industries spans almost four decades. He has served as chief financial officer of International Business Machines since January 2018, overseeing accounting and controllership, financial planning and analysis, tax, internal audit, investor relations, corporate strategy, corporate development, and treasury of the company's worldwide financial operations. Kavanaugh joined IBM from AT&T, where he was the chief financial officer for its Americas Global Services. He earned his MBA from Ohio State University. Based in Bellevue, T-Mobile provides services through its subsidiaries and operates its flagship brands, T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile.

PPM Technologies

Duravant, a global engineered equipment and automation solutions provider to the food processing, packaging, and material handling sectors, has acquired PPM Technologies from Stonehenge Partners. PPM is a manufacturer of conveying, coating, and thermal equipment that designs, engineers, and manufactures processing solutions for a wide range of end markets including snack foods, confectionery, cereals, nutraceuticals, nuts and seeds, vegetables, meats, poultry, and seafood. PPM is headquartered in headquartered in Newberg, Oregon. PPM serves national and multi-national customers in over 50 countries, and has two manufacturing sites in the U.S., a sales office in the UK, and direct sales support in Mexico. Duravant is headquartered in Downers Grove, Illinois. Stonehenge Partners is an Ohio based private equity fund that focuses exclusively on middle market companies.

MacMillan-Piper

GSC, a nationwide third-party logistics provider, acquired Northwest specialty transloader MacMillan-Piper. MacMillan-Piper has provided services to importers and exporters for over 50 years. With the acquisition, GSC bolsters its portfolio with a network of proprietary rail transload facilities, additional warehousing capacity, and expanded transloading capabilities with expertise in agricultural, paper, lumber, steel and dry bulk commodities. The acquisition strengthens GSC's service offerings in the Pacific Northwest market by adding five warehouse facilities encompassing over 380,000 square feet with 80 railcar spots and more than 100 dock doors. The combined MacMillan-Piper and GSC Transport fleet will now exceed 100 trucks. Mark Miller, previously the owner, CEO and president of MacMillan-Piper, will continue to lead the MacMillan-Piper team as president and serve on GSC's executive leadership team. GSC provides fully integrated transportation, logistics and transloading solutions nationwide through a network of companies headquartered in Oakland.

ABC of Western Washington

The Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington has two new members: Summa Lux Electric of East Wenatchee; and North Sound Communications & Electric of Lopez Island. Summa specializes in residential, commercial and electrical service work. North Sound is a commercial and residential electrical contractor offering services in low voltage, generators and more.
