Nearly nine years after Seattle voters agreed to let vehicles travel Pine Street through Westlake Park, there is a move afoot to re-open Occidental Avenue in Pioneer Square.
The situation proves the adage that the more things change, the more they stay the same. It was merchants, led by Nordstrom, and developers, such as Jeff Rhodes and the rest of the Pacific Place team, who managed to convince voters to approve re-opening Pine between Fourth and Fifth avenues.
