Here's one intriguing retail story: Where will Microsoft and Apple land in downtown Seattle? Let's start with Fifth Avenue between Pike and Pine.
We heard Apple had looked at mid-block space on the east side of the street, and now we hear Microsoft is eyeing the same space. It makes sense. Some small businesses — a teriyaki place, jeweler and cigar store among them — have left or are leaving the space, which is steps away from the retail core. Microsoft plans to open 75 new stores, including two in the Puget Sound region.
