More than a decade ago, Aegis Living built a retirement home in Fremont, Calif., that was designed primarily for Asian-Americans. Aegis said that was the first of its kind, and now the company is planning a similar 125-unit retirement community in Newcastle.
The $40 million to $45 million project is still a ways out, with construction not slated to begin until next year. But Aegis has been studying its first Asian-focused complex to learn what worked and what didn't.
