Selling a timeshare isn't easy

    I stashed my bike in one of the racks provided in the wonderful village and headed down the lane in search of an afternoon coffee. I usually stop -- anywhere -- to check property prices so the realty storefront was not an unusual detour. What caught my eye -- in addition to the pictures of gorgeous, log-built alpine chalets -- was the number of resale timeshare properties available.

    "Take your pick," said one real-estate agent in Whistler, B.C., who asked not to be named because she works with timeshare developers. "Any size and location. They are a pain to sell. They take as much time and advertising as a single-family home or condominium listing.
