So why haven't rates on mortgages risen yet?

The economy is supposedly recovering, yet fixed-rate home loans have remained near their lowest levels in 30 years - keeping housing as the “bell cow” leader of its big industry partners.

Home prices continue to rise in many markets, keeping potential buyers on a continuous lookout for the right home in a specific neighborhood. Boomers and seniors planning to stay put are constantly teased by home equity loan offerings allowing them to tap in to their home’s mounting appreciation.
