I have a brother-in-law who is a very generous sort – always reaching for dinner tabs, treating the kids to after-dinner ice cream and volunteering to cook at family reunions.
Mike’s worked hard for the same company for more than three decades, has great kids, yet every now and then stuns me with a decision regarding finances. For example, when one of his boys ran up a huge credit card bill and then did not pay it, my brother-in-law took the financial institution to task for issuing the kid a credit card and demanded the debt be reduced. He then bailed out his son by paying off the card.
