The Real Estate Adviser: Local builder reflects on his success on Maui

WAILEA POINT, Maui, Hawaii — It's been exactly 20 years since Bothell's Clyde A. (Bud) Wagner started clearing 30 prime acres of waterfront property just south of Kihei highlighted by a gorgeous old lava-flow coastline.

Not only have Wailea Point's 130 luxury residences skyrocketed in value, bringing new meaning to a "second-home asset," but most have made millionaires out of their owners, many of whom only had to wait a few years to cash in on their seven-digit equity.
