The Real Estate Adviser: 'Katrina cottages' may find buyers beyond Gulf states

ORLANDO, Fla. — The cute, cozy proposed alternative to the FEMA hurricane relief trailer along the Mississippi Gulf Coast could also be a huge boon to the second home and retirement home markets around the country.

Representatives from the Mississippi rebuilding effort were here for the recent International Builders Show that featured 100,000-plus builders, suppliers, interior designers, developers, architects and 1,600 exhibitors. Mississippi's 11 coastal communities are seeking help from all segments of the building community to help put their hurricane-devastated coastline back together.
