Keelson Ballard, a new 105-unit apartment building, has opened at 1537 N.W. 56th St.
The seven-story building has a mix of one-and two-bedroom units, with contemporary designs. The building has solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations and green systems for maintenance.
Rooms have soundproofing and oversized windows with views of the Olympic Mountains. There is a courtyard, patios, bike storage with a service area, and a 24-hour fitness space.
The streetscape and rooftop are accented with local greenery, and there is a dog walk and BBQ grills.
In a nod to the neighborhood's Scandinavian roots, the name Keelson comes from the Swedish word for a boat keel.
