CB Richard Ellis

Ken Barnes, Steve Bordner, Mark Hockman and Michael Shigley have joined CB Richard Ellis' Bellevue office. Barnes' specialty is financial analysis and appraisal. Bordner returns to CB after 15 years in the development and management business. Hockman most recently was an apartment sales broker. Shigley specializes in corporate consultation and financial analysis. Patricia A. (Patty) Pressler has joined CB Richard Ellis as Northwest director of operations. She manages accounting, human resources, technology, information systems, administration and auditing for one Portland and three Seattle-area offices.

Fisher Properties

Nanci J. Clark, RPA, has joined Fisher Properties as a lease manager. She has 17 years' experience in real estate and property management. Most recently she worked as a property manager for Costco.

Norris, Beggs & Simpson

Norris, Beggs & Simpson won the property management and leasing contract for The Park at Woodinville, a 237,281-square-foot industrial complex owned by San Francisco-based Meridian Industrial Trust. Don Haze and Gary Jones will manage the five buildings and negotiate leases, and Ronda Hull, RPA, will oversee property management. H. Roger Qualman, executive vice president and manager of Norris' Puget Sound office, said the complex is 90 percent leased. The asking rate is 45 cents a foot triple net. The firm plans to improve the buildings' exteriors and upgrade the complex's signs and landscaping. Kidder, Mathews & Segner had been managing the property.

Marcus & Millichap

The Eastside gained some affordable housing and will acquire additional multi-family units as the result of two recent sales that Marcus & Millichap handled. Senior Associate Brian S. Leibsohn represented both the buyers and sellers in a $1.675 million deal for the 8,924-square-foot Eastwood Building, which the new owners plan to raze to make way for multi-family housing on the 23,600-square-foot lot. The accounting firm of Johnson & Godfrey sold the building at 1020 108th Ave. N.E. to 1020 Associates LLC, a local development partnership. The King County Housing Authority recently increased its presence on the Eastside with the purchase of the 77-unit Heritage Park Apartments, 9826 N.E. 19th St., Bothell. The $4.95 million sale equals $64,285 a unit. Ed Dean and Gary King, who developed the property in 1982, were the sellers. Senior Associate Kenneth P. Dudunakis represented the buyer and sellers. Leibsohn represented Spanaway Investors and Gramor Northwest, which recently bought the 62,633-square-foot former Ernst building in Spanaway for $1.15 million from US Bank. Grubb & Ellis represented the bank. The new owners plan to improve the building and lease it. No lease has been signed, according to Leibsohn, but negotiations are underway with several prospects.

Benkendorf Associates

The Benkendorf Associates Corp., a land-use consulting firm, has opened a regional office in Richland. Leslie Ann Hauer will manage operations. The corporation also has hired Ross Swanson as an associate planner for the Oregon office.

Windermere Real Estate

Users of Windermere Real Estate's web site now can have new home listings automatically sent to them via e-mail. Windermere said its site, Windermere.com, is the only one in the country that offers this e-mail feature that sends to clients any new listings that fit their criteria. In the first week, more than 1,000 customers signed up by registering personal home searches on the web site.

Graham & James/Riddell Williams

Graham & James/Riddell Williams has expanded the real estate practice group with the addition of Suzanne M. Larsen and Matthew Le Master. Larsen formerly served with The Nathanson Group in Seattle. Le Master formerly served as an associate with the Anderson Hunter Law Firm.

CB Richard Ellis

Jon Hallgrimson has been promoted to senior vice president with CB Richard Ellis, and John Hanson has been promoted to associate with the company's Seattle South office. Hallgrimson has been with the company 11 years, specializing in multi-family investment sales. He was the top producer for the Seattle region last year and has closed nearly $500 million in sales during his career. Hanson, who joined the company in 1995 as a market researcher, will focus on leasing and sales of industrial and office properties in South King and Pierce counties.

Marcus & Millichap

Greg Wendelken was recently promoted to regional manager of the company's Seattle-area office. He was sales manager of the Ontario, Calif., office and a senior associate in the company's Newport Beach, Calif., office.

Grubb & Ellis

Gregory A. Laycock, vice president of Grubb & Ellis' Investment Services Group, and James M. Keating, vice president of firm's Office Services Group, have qualified for their company's Circle of Excellence. Laycock specializes in multi-family properties and land in the Puget Sound region, and Keating specializes in the acquisition and disposition of office, flex and industrial space nationally.

Kidder, Mathews & Segner

Bruce D. Savett, CPA, has joined Kidder, Mathews & Segner-Oncor International. Savett, CPA, spent 12 years as owner/broker of Investment Property Brokers in Los Angeles. He has sold more than 100 apartment buildings with total sales of more than $62 million. He will continue specializing in multi-family and investment properties.

Coldwell Banker Hawkins-Poe

Coldwell Banker Hawkins-Poe is opening its first commercial real estate office in Suite 310 of Tacoma's Harmon Building, 1944 Pacific Ave. The company was founded in 1946 by current CEO Frank Hawkins' father, Jack Hawkins. It has grown to six offices in Pierce County specializing in residential real estate. The new office is to open Dec. 15. The expansion will increase the number of company agents to more than 280. R. Terry Fenton will organize and manage the new division.

IREM course on current trends

"Current Trends in Real Estate 1998" will be offered by the Western Washington Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) on Oct. 28 and 29 at the Lake Washington Technical College in Kirkland. The keynote speakers will be Michael Parks of Marple's Business Newsletter and Bob Linz, a broker and motivational speaker. Police offer landlord training

The Seattle Police Department is sponsoring a two-day landlord training course Oct. 27 and 28 at the West Seattle Senior Center, half a block east of California Avenue Southwest and 42nd Southwest on Oregon. The course is designed to train owners and managers to keep drugs and illegal activity off their property. Each session lasts three hours and costs $5 if registered before Oct. 21 and $8 afterwards. Participants may also register at the door. The Seattle Landlord Training Manual will be available for $15. Conference looks at emerging markets

"Emerging Markets: How to profit from new opportunities" is the title of a conference planned for Oct. 29 at the Marriott Hotel Sea Tac. It is sponsored by Fannie Mae, the Washington Association of Realtors and the Seattle-King County Association of Realtors. The keynote speaker is John Tuccillo, consulting economist for the National Association of Realtors, on "New Rules of Real Estate."
