Lawyer Douglas K. Smith, CCIM, is a new associate broker in Colliers International's Tacoma office. He specializes in the sale of multi-family and net leased investment properties. After practicing law for 25 years, he entered commercial real estate and previously worked at Marcus & Millichap. Connie Boyle, CCIM, also has joined the Tacoma office. She previously worked at Coldwell Banker, specializing in office space in Federal Way. A 26-year industry veteran, she has been involved in the development and brokerage of more than 1,300 lots in 13 subdivisions in the Puget Sound region. She now specializes in South King County investment properties.

Schnitzer Northwest

Jonathan Needell has joined Schnitzer Northwest as investment director, CFO, in the company's Bellevue office. He most recently was director of the Corporate Finance Group in the Investment Banking Division of Merrill Lynch in New York. He had been with Merrill Lynch since 1992 and held several positions in the Real Estate Group before moving to Corporate Finance in 2000.

Cristalla

Developers of Cristalla report 57 units were sold during the opening weekend last fall; in two days total gross sales were more than $20 million. The developer expects to have sold all 197 units when the building opens in the spring of 2005. Prices range from $335,000 to $3 million. Officials of Cristalla LLC, the developer and contractor, say the building will be the largest residential tower constructed in Seattle in eight years. Steve Washburn of the development company Murray Franklyn is the lead principal of Cristalla LLC. Weber + Thompson Architects designed the project at Second and Lenora, and Williams Marketing is handling sales.

Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute

Members of the Washington Chapter of Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute have elected Robert DiPietrae of Hendricks & Partners president for 2004. Others elected are Connie Boyle of Colliers International, vice president; Morgan Llewellan of Llewellan Real Estate, treasurer; and Larry Hoff of Coldwell Banker All American, secretary. Elected directors are Don Arsenault of Arsenault Realty Advisors; Larry Dixon of Dixon & Associates; Doug Smith of Colliers International; Bruce Kahn of Westlake Associates; Tom Wallin of Leibsohn & Co.; and Ron Throupe of Mundy & Associates.

Marcus & Millichap

The 59-unit Post Alley Court Apartments, 1408 Western Ave. in Seattle, has sold for $4.458 million. Spencer Hurst and Robert Sheppard, both of Marcus & Millichap, represented the seller, Harbor Properties LLC, and the buyers, Reverse Now II LLC and Post Alley Court Apartments NW LLC.

The 30-unit Forest Creek Apartments, 1717 W. Casino Road in Everett, has sold for $2.05 million. Richard Walker of Marcus & Millichap represented the sellers, Mr. and Mrs. John P. Roberts, and the buyer, Rakesh Parashar.

The 10-unit University Terrace Apartments, 2635 Cascade Place in University Place, has sold for $420,000. Chad Duncan of Marcus & Millichap represented the sellers, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Schwartz, and the buyer, Will Chad, LLC.

The 27-unit McChord Tudor Haus Apartments, 5810 Chicago Ave. S.E. in Lakewood, has sold for $945,000. Larry Corkins of Marcus & Millichap represented the sellers, Mr. & Mrs. Walter Bale, and the buyer, Yuan Zhang.

CREW Seattle

U.S. Sen. Patty Murray will speak at CREW Seattle's noon lunch Jan. 8 at the Washington Athletic Club, 1325 Sixth Ave., Seattle. Murray, the first woman to represent Washington in the Senate, will address matters critical to real estate development in the state. Tickets are $29.50 for members with reservations and $45 for nonmembers and walk-ins. MulvannyG2 Architecture recently appointed Andre Bellerjeau to manager of business development.

Bellerjeau will be responsible for assisting with MulvannyG2's business development efforts and will work directly with the corporate director of business development and the principals of the firm's retail, office, community, industrial, international and interiors studios in Bellevue.

Bellerjeau has 12 years of architecture and interiors experience, and previously worked for MulvannyG2 from 1997 to 2000. He has worked throughout Europe, based in Munich, as the managing director for a security design company. His project experience at MulvannyG2 includes the 30-story Elliott Grand Hyatt in downtown Seattle and MulvannyG2's headquarters at the One Twelfth@Twelfth office campus in downtown Bellevue.

He is committee chair of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, and active on two associations in the city of Bellevue.
