United Development Corp.

Yasuo Miyazawa has been named president of United Development Corp., formed in 1973 by the Tokyu family of companies of Japan to develop the master planned community Mill Creek near Seattle. He will manage the day-to-day operations of its residential development activities as well as the Mill Creek Country Club. Miyazawa comes to United Development and Mill Creek with an extensive background in real estate, development, management, finance and marketing. He has been employed by Tokyu and its subsidiaries for more than 24 years, including management positions with subsidiaries that operate Mauna Lani Resort on Hawaii, Pan Pacific Hotels and Tokyu's hotel and resort operations in North America. Located on 1,073 acres, Mill Creek is now an incorporated city, home to 10,500 people.

Washington Natural Gas

Carol J. Briant has been named vice president of human resources at Washington Natural Gas Co. Briant formerly served for two years as human resources manager for Washington Energy Services Co., which like Washington Natural Gas is a Seattle-based subsidiary of Washington Energy Co. Before that, she served in a similar capacity for Wright Runstad & Co. in Seattle and was personnel director for the Anchorage Daily News in Alaska. Briant also provided management and organization development consulting services to other Pacific Northwest companies. She is a member of the Northwest Compensation Forum, Northwest Human Resources Management Association, American Association of University Women and the Historic Seattle Preservation and Development Authority.

Washington Association of Realtors

Evangeline Anderson was named the 1995 Realtor of the Year by the Washington Association of Realtors. Anderson was also recently appointed by Governor Mike Lowry to a six-year term on the Washington Real Estate Commission.

Seattle Mortgage

Michelle Dean, supervisor of overall servicing, was recently promoted to assistant vice president of servicing at Seattle Mortgage Company. Dean has been with the company for six years.

The Norman Company

The Norman Company's leasing services group represented Seafirst Bank in the sublease of its vacant office space in Security Pacific Tower.

Windermere

Windermere Real Estate has added four new sales associates to offices in the Seattle area. They include: LeeAnn Smythe, Kent; Tom Navarre and Cherry Wolverton, Northeast; and Perry Anderson, Renton. Also Frank Wilson, manager of Windermere's Bremerton office, has been moved to the same position at the company's Silverdale office. Bob Bryne will take over as manager of the Bremerton office.

Port Ludlow Retirement Community

The adult community of Port Ludlow has been named one of the 20 best retirement communities in America, as rated by New Choices for Retirement Living magazine. The 1,200-acre community on Washington's Olympic Peninsula has made the list three of the past four years.

RE/MAX

Local Realtor Don Gray has recently joined RE/MAX Cascade Properties, located in Oak Harbor, as a sales associate and part owner. Gray specializes property management and residential properties.

Fall seminar proposed

The Washington State Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties is offering their fall seminar on Oct. 5 at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. The all-day seminar, presented in cooperation with the University of Washington, will focus on a mix of virtual reality and economic reality of the area. John L. Scott

John L. Scott has added several new sales associates to their offices in the Puget Sound area. They are: Shannon Cooper, North Seattle; Margaret Thomas, Lakeside; Nancy Volland and Bill Wood, Gig Harbor; Kimberly Olson, Bellevue East; Thai-An Blanchard and T. Scott Stanley, Renton; and Bob Gelb, Mercer Island. Also George Orren and Steve Craig, both from the company's Bellevue South office, have recently received their associate broker's license.
