MultiFamily Executive Magazine chose Merrill Gardens at Kirkland to win the Grand Award for Senior Living at the annual MFE and Developer Awards in Las Vegas. It was chosen Project of the Year for senior housing communities from more than 200 entries. The 115-unit complex was designed by Runberg Architecture Group of Seattle. SRM Development of Spokane was the developer. Judges praised its social activities, amenities and waterfront location.
Jeff Henderson has joined NBS Financial Services as a finance officer. He will work in the Seattle office and originate loans for commercial properties in the Pacific Northwest. Henderson owned his own company, Urban Assets LLC, where he acquired and repositioned residential projects, and served as a consultant on development and asset management. He also worked as acquisitions analyst and assistant due diligence manager at Harsch Investment Properties in Portland.
Suzette West of World West Investments was awarded the Certified Green Broker designation from the Commercial Brokers Association. She is trained to help people buy green buildings in Western Washington. West said she is working on a “deep green” office building called the Mile Hill Drive Project in Port Orchard. It is designed by Weber Thompson.
The Nov. 18 meeting of NAIOP will have a panel discussion on “Capital Markets: The Impending Return.” The meeting will be at the Seattle Waterfront Marriott starting at 7:15 a.m. with registration and networking. The moderator is Michal Makar of CBRE Capital Markets. Panelists are Roddy O'Neal of Goldman Sachs, Gary Beem of Northwest Commercial Mortgage and Jack Wiser of Bank of America. The Seattle Mortgage Bankers Association will hold a loan officer panel discussion on Nov. 17 at the Broadmoor Golf Club starting at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour. Dinner is at 6:30. CMG Mortgage of San Ramon, Calif., a wholesale mortgage bank, has acquired the Kirkland-based mortgage company Northwest Financial Advisors. Chris George, president and CEO of CMG Mortgage, said this is part of his firm's expansion plans in the Northwest because of the stability of this region's housing market. Jack Bentler is the founder and president of Northwest Financial.
The Washington State Chapter of NAIOP will hold its annual Night of the Stars gala at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue on Nov. 6. The black tie event begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails, followed by dinner and the awards ceremony. NAIOP has added some new award categories and SIOR (The Society of Industrial and Office Retailers) will present its Broker of the Year Award during the event. NAIOP said Larry Benaroya and Marvin Stein will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and Tim Farrell and Larry Springer will be recognized as Public Officials of the Year. Sue Morrow, a real estate sales professional in Seattle, has joined the Keller Williams Realty Seattle Metro West Market Center.
