Colliers International hired David Abbott as a senior vice president. Abbott was with Jones Lang LaSalle. He will join Senior Vice President Greg Inglin to work with landlords and tenants in the Seattle central business district. Over the past six years Abbott has represented Prudential Real Estate, UBS, Clarion Partners, Talon Private Capital, Touchstone Corp., Shorenstein Properties and Wright Runstad. Colliers has added 19 brokers in the past 18 months. The company has 482 offices in 62 countries.
Portland-based Scanlan Kemper Bard Cos., which recently opened an office in Seattle, acquired CityCenter of CityNorth, a 628,000-square-foot mixed-use project in Phoenix that contains condos, office space, retail and nearly five acres of undeveloped land. Scanlan Kemper Bard teamed with Minnesota-based Wayzata Investment Partners LLC to complete the transaction. CityCenter was built in 2008 and has struggled. Scanlan Kemper Bard said it plans to turn the project around by improving the retail and attracting better tenants. Scanlan Kemper Bard has a $2.77 billion portfolio with 20.3 million square feet of office, industrial, retail and housing.
Thousands of homes in this area will be on display this weekend as part of the fourth annual Nationwide Open House, sponsored by the Washington Association of Realtors. The WAR event became a national event after a statewide open house in 2009 attracted more than 5,000 participants. It started as a series of local open houses. Each open house will be marked by blue balloons with the realtor “R.”
Seattle King County Realtors will brief candidates seeking local elected office about housing issues at noon May 7 at the Westin Bellevue on Bellevue Way. Presentations will cover legislative, legal and regulatory issues that affect local real estate, housing supply and economic conditions. Northwest economist John W. Five new agents have joined the Bellevue office of Keller Williams Realty to meet growing demand. The new agents are all beginning their real estate careers: Anil Kumar Dharmi Chand, Josh Crelencia, Amber Errickson, Brianna Everroad and Jose Mercado. The office now has 90 residential and commercial agents. Keller Williams, based in Austin, Texas, said it is the largest real estate franchise operation in the country. It has 700 offices and 80,000 agents in the U.S. and Canada. Keller Williams has 28 offices and 3,300 agents in the Northwest.
Boston Consulting Group recently signed a 7,195-square-foot lease at 1918 Eighth Ave., bringing the building to full occupancy. CBRE broker Owen Rice represented the owner, JP Morgan Chase. The building was completed in 2009. Developer Schnitzer West sold the 36-story tower to JP Morgan Chase for $350.5 million in 2011. Amazon.com signed a lease that year for 460,000 of the 668,000 square feet. NBBJ designed the building, and Sellen Construction was the general contractor. DCI Engineers provided structural and civil engineering services.
Real estate brokerage CBRE said tenants in commercial property that it manages participated in the World Wildlife Fund's Earth Hour 2013 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, as a call to reduce the impact of climate change. People in more than 150 countries switched off non-essential lights for one hour, including CBRE-managed properties in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa.
