Hong Kong group buys Gilman Terrace

An entity based in Hong Kong purchased Gilman Terrace Apartments at 2557 14th Ave., near Expedia's future Seattle headquarters, for $20.1 million. The complex has two buildings constructed in 1988 and 1991, with 25 and 42 units, respectively. Tyler Smith and Steve Fischer of Westlake Associates represented the buyer: Gilman Terrace Holdings. Travis Andrews and Peter Larson of Paragon Real Estate represented the seller, an entity managed by Tim McHugh. The new owner plans to renovate the property.

Murphy joins Kilroy as EVP

Kilroy Realty Corp. named Tracy Murphy executive vice president of life sciences. Starting in July, Murphy will oversee approximately 1.5 million square feet of life science properties on the West Coast. She will be in charge of leasing, new acquisitions and development opportunities in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. Murphy came from BioMed Realty Trust where she was senior vice president and West Coast lead. Kilroy has a West Coast portfolio of 13.7 million square feet, and another 905,000 square feet of office and residential projects under construction.

Council confirms SHA board members

Moseley

Houston

Seattle City Council this week approved the appointments of Dr. Paula Houston and David Moseley to Seattle Housing Authority's Board of Commissioners. Houston is CEO of Sound Generations, a Seattle-based organization that provides care and resources for seniors. Moseley is semi-retired and served as assistant secretary in Washington State Department of Transportation's Ferries Division. SHA's board is responsible for policies, approving the budget and hiring the executive director. Board members are nominated by the mayor and confirmed by the council.

Kirkland building sells for $5M

A 31,031-square-foot office building at 12040 115th Ave. N.E. in Kirkland sold for $4.85 million. The buyer, Corica Properties LLC, will open Goddard School on the second floor. Goddard School is an early childhood education provider for kids between six weeks and six years old. The first floor is leased, with the exception of a 3,600-square-foot space. Bob Swain and Chris O'Connor of NAI Puget Sound Properties represented the buyer.

French bakery for downtown Portland

French patisserie St. Honore Bakery will open a 2,000-square-foot bakery and cafe in the historic Morgan Building at 720 S.W. Washington St. in downtown Portland. Urban Renaissance Group manages the building for Great Point Investors of Boston. URG said it worked on making the building the first historic office property in downtown Portland to earn LEED silver designation. St. Honore has three locations in Portland and the suburb of Lake Oswego.
