Kirkland Urban apartments: Uptown

Ryan Companies and Talon Private picked Uptown as the name for the first 185 apartments in the 11-acre Kirkland Urban project, which will replace Kirkland Park Place mall. Uptown is set to open in the first quarter of next year, followed by another 175 units in 2021. The 1.2-million square-foot Kirkland Urban will also include a 50,000-square-foot QFC, more retail, and 650,000 square feet of offices in three buildings. CBRE is leasing that space, with Wave Broadband and Tableau among the tenants signed. The north building, on Central Way, is set to open late this year, with the other two to open in 2019 and 2021. Weber Thompson designed the Uptown. CollinsWoerman created the master plan and designed the retail and office. Ryan is acting as general contractor.

125 pre-sales at Bosa's One88

Bosa Development said 125 condos have pre-sold at One88, its 21-story tower under construction at 188 Bellevue Way N.E. One88 will have 143 units when completed in 2020. Bosa said that 70 percent of the buyers are local. Units range from one- to three-bedrooms, and about 750 to 3,000 square feet. Prices start in the low $800,000s and top $5 million for the penthouse. One88 will have 292 parking stalls, plus about 12,000 square feet of retail. Bosa is the general contractor, and the architect is Amanat Architect, also based in Vancouver, B.C. Tarragon hires Larry Lambert

Tarragon hired Larry Lambert as construction manager on its multifamily team. He's a 30-year industry veteran who makes the move from Rush Hill Construction.

First Western starts new venture

Broker First Western Properties is partnering with property manager Metro Property Services in a new venture: First Western Properties-Management. First Western's Brennan McClurg said the goal is to have the brokerage and management teams work together to serve existing clients. His company was founded in 1979, and now has offices in Tacoma, Kirkland and Portland. Metro was established in 2009.

New hires at Mt. Baker Housing

The nonprofit Mt. Baker Housing has two new staffers: Kelly Fan is an accountant, and Jevon Washington will do community outreach. MBH now has about 350 units in seven communities, the largest being Mt. Baker Village, and is planning 31 units at 2914 S. McClellan St. Mt. Baker Gateway will be built nearby, with 160 units and offices for MBH, as well as a new home for Rainier Valley Food Bank.

Lennar homes to add Amazon hubs

Amazon says it will add high-tech hubs called Amazon Experience Centers in single-family homes built by Lennar. The two companies joined forces last year with Alexa-enabled home features. Amazon said in a press release that people who buy the Alexa-enabled homes can control TVs, lights, thermostats, shades and more through the device, and reorder household products with Amazon Dash Buttons. Amazon will roll out the technology in Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C. Land Advisors promotes Jessen

Phoenix-based Land Advisors Organization has promoted Mathis Jessen to a full-time broker in its Bellevue office. Land Advisors was founded in Phoenix in 1987, and now has offices in nine states. The company's website says it is looking at new markets to create a coast-to-coast network.

The Danforth aids nonprofits

The Danforth, which is scheduled to open in July at Broadway and Madison Street, started a campaign called “Live Well, Do Good, Have Fun” to attract renters and benefit local nonprofits. This month Seattle Humane will receive $2,500 as part of that effort. The other beneficiaries are Artist Trust and Country Doctor. The 16-story, 265-unit Danforth was developed by Columbia Pacific Advisors. Tiscareno Associates is the architect and Balfour Beatty is the contractor. It will have a two-level Whole Foods grocery store.
