Description
This project widens Interstate 5 to three lanes north and south, with
a fourth acceleration/deceleration lane at the Main Street north- and
south-bound ramps. On- and off-ramps on 78th Street will replace bridges
at Main Street and Clark County Railroad crossing. 63rd Street and 78th
Street northbound and southbound rebuilds the existing interchange at
78th Street with an urban style interchange similar to the ones at SR-500/Andresen,
SR-14/Columbia and I-5/99th adds sound walls to residential areas connects
the east and west sides of the Discovery Trail by adding a pedestrian
bridge and pedestrian tunnel and adds a stormwater detention pond near
the Ellen Davis Trail.
When completed, the project will increase capacity by 40 percent provide
for future addition of north- and south-bound HOV lanes upgrade overpasses
and bridges to meet seismic codes improve pedestrian safety and trail
access and, provide a sound barrier for adjacent residential areas.
