Description
Renovating Hec Edmundson Pavilion, the cramped 70-year-old home of Husky basketball, is part of the University of Washington’s master plan to update athletic facilities and create a unified appearance at the university’s “back door” along the shore of Lake Washington.

Major changes to Hec Ed include removing its infamous pillars, which block views of the court below, and increasing seating capacity from 7,900 to 10,000. The building’s outside brick facade will be retained, and the original ceiling and Gothic-style windows, now covered by walls, will be restored. The sports medicine center and training room in Hec Ed will be expanded.

Plans also call for a new Hall of Fame that can be entered and viewed from the basketball arena. It will have a spiral staircase and exhibits on two floors.
