Project 5 - Emerald Ridge High School
Journal staffProject description: Emerald Ridge High School, the Puyallup School District's third high school, is being built on 56 acres in Pierce County. The building consists of 205,500 square feet, and will accommodate 1,400 students.
The school design includes a plaza, a commons area to provide separate lobbies for after-hours activities, a clock tower near the main entrance, and a colonnade to reduce the scale of the gym. Classrooms cluster around three shared activity areas, accommodating the learning center concept. A fourth learning center and aquatic center are planned for the future. Site development includes baseball and softball fields, an all-weather red cinder track around a practice football field and a multipurpose playfield. The construction work for the project has included normal concrete work, masonry work, steel framing, roofing and waterproofing, doors, windows, hardware, flooring, interior and exterior finishes, casework, and complete mechanical and electrical systems, food service equipment, gym equipment, folding partitions, fire protection, and communications, signal, data, and electronic distribution systems. Address: 12405 184th St. S.E., Puyallup.
