Project description: This project involves expanding Olympia High School and transforming its 11 existing buildings into a single continuous structure. The project includes 99,050 square feet of building additions and 135,034 square feet of remodeled space, mostly classrooms.
Slayden Construction is building exterior walls for three new buildings that will house the technology program, an auxiliary gym and an auditorium. In addition, the contractor is remodeling the 20,000-square-foot science wing and adding framing walls for the new administration building. Further additions will include a 700-seat auditorium, auxiliary gymnasium, fitness center, and a student commons.
Modernization work will include extensive asbestos abatement, structural upgrade of all facilities, a new exterior building finish system, new interior finishes and complete replacement of all mechanical and electrical systems. Planned site development work includes additional on-site parking, a separate bus parking area and new sidewalks and plazas.
Construction materials include both steel and wood framing, structural steel, masonry and concrete. Site utilities include rerouting existing water, sewer and storm utilities, repaving existing parking lots, and addiing new parking areas.
