Coffman

Kenneth "Dutch" Opdycke recently joined Coffman Engineers' Seattle office as senior project manager in the mechanical engineering department. He was previously employed by Hermanson Corporation. He specializes in the design of HVAC and plumbing systems for hospital, retail and office building projects, and is currently working on projects at Children's Hospital and Medical Center. Diana Dunkle has joined Coffman Construction Management as a construction accounting specialist. Diana has 18 years experience in the construction industry, managing cost accounting for residential and commercial construction projects. She is currently working on Sun Tower Piping System Removal, Northhaven Retirement Apartments Piping Replacement and System Upgrades, and Hawthorne Retirement Community Addition and Renovations. New to the electrical department is Dean Kandlik, a drafter with seven years CAD experience. Dean is currently working on the Northgate Mall renovation project, as well as various projects for Franciscan Health System and Microsoft Corporation.

Sienna Architecture Company

Shauna Stinson has been promoted to marketing manager at Sienna Architecture Company in Portland. Stinson has been with Sienna's marketing department for seven years. Stinson is a member of Portland City Club and the Society for Marketing Professional Services. Blaise Kim brings her design strengths to the firm as job captain. Kim, whose experience is weighted heavily in medical facilities, will work with both the retail and healthcare teams. Kim earned her undergraduate degrees from Washington State University. Svetlana Astrakhan will provide drafting expertise for Sienna's corporate service group. Astrahkan received her Bachelor of Science from the Moscow Institute of Land Use Planning Engineers where she studied the architecture of rural settlements. Most recently, she worked with VanDomelen/Looijenga/McGarrigle/Knauf. David Waldow, a recent graduate of the University of Oregon, joins the firm's corporate services team as a drafter/designer. He brings computer aided drafting experience from Tomasi Lawry Coker DeSilva Architecture, Brackman Engineering and Lawrence Simons & James Brecht, Inc. Sienna has hired Jennifer Jenkins as an administrative assistant. Jenkins will work closely with the government team as well as the accounting department.

MetaInfo has hired Gary McAvoy as vice president of marketing and sales. His primary responsibility will be the international product marketing program. McAvoy was president of Northwest GeoGrafx Corporation. Headquartered in Seattle, MetoInfo provides Internet messaging and directory services software for Microsoft Windows NT.

Kvichak Marine Industries

Kvichak Marine Industries of Seattle has delivered seven new Bristol Bay gillnetters, exceeding its production run of 1995. Kvichak made some changes to this year's production, including re-engineering the boat for computer-controlled plasma cutting to ensure construction precision and consistency. The new design now packs 20,000 pounds of fish "under the boards."

Pacific Crest Securities has added a health care research group to its equity research department. The addition of the group reflects the rapidly growing interest among investors in companies involved in health care and related industries. The group will provide analysis of health care, medical products and medical technologies companies. Kate Sheridan will head the group and will be joined by Ryan Rauch. Pacific Crest Securities provides investment banking services to corporations, financial institutions, government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and individuals. The firm has offices in Seattle and Portland.

WRQ, Inc.

WRQ, a connectivity software company, has legally changed its name from Walker, Richer & Quinn, Inc., to WRQ, Inc., effective immediately. The change has been instituted to reduce the confusion of being referred to by both names, as well as reflect the company's growth.

Seattle-based KNCF/Dave has hired Erica Verstegen and Rachel Drake to work on public relations, advertising account service and business development at the agency. Verstegen formerly was manager of public affairs and marketing communications at AT & T Wireless. Drake was the former assistant press secretary to U.S. Senator Patty Murray.

NAIOP's September 18 meeting

September's breakfast meeting will feature Phil Bussey speaking about the Washington Roundtable. Bussey is the president of the Washington Roundtable, a public policy research and advocacy group comprised of 34 chief executive officers of state companies such as Boeing, Seafirst, Microsoft and Weyerhaeuser.
