Information Technology Services Inc., Bellevue, has changed its name to the Cordata Group. The new name will help distinguish it from local competition and leverage its expertise to a national level. Cordata means "mountain climbing team" in Spanish. The firm also has an office in Lake Oswego, Ore., and provides information technology consulting and customer software development.

Redmond-based Metawave Communications Corporation has hired Tom Crawford as director of product marketing and business development. Crawford will develop and maintain strategic partnerships that provide new sales and marketing opportunities for Metawave's multibeam antenna systems. Metawave delivers products and services that help wireless service providers optimize their use of radio frequency (RF) spectrum.

A group of Hillsboro scientists and educators have joined together to develop The Science, Technology and Research (STAR) Park, Oregon's second research park located in Washington County's high-tech district. The goal is to attract new biotechnology companies to the area. STAR will provide a formal connection among members of the Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU), Oregon Regional Primate Research Center (ORPRC), Oregon Graduate Institute, Center for Advanced Partnerships in Technology and Learning (CAPITAL Center), Washington County ESD, Oregon State System of Higher Education, Portland Community College and Wells Fargo Bank. Michael Conn, associate director of the Primate Center, will serve as the park coordinator.
Arne R. Berger has been named principal and business manager at Sparling. He has served as a managing member of the firm's medical design team during his six years with the firm. Melody A. Browne, accounting manager at Sparling, has been promoted to associate. William G. Gullstad has also been promoted to associate. During his 11 years with the firm, he has overseen electrical redesigns for the King County Courthouse and the renovation of the Temple of Justice in Olympia. He is now at work on the University of Washington's Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Building and the Marine Environmental Research station in Astoria, Ore. James E. Redding has been promoted to associate. Redding, who specializes in educational projects, is developing designs for the African American Academy and for the Experience Music Project.

Wasser, Inc., a technical communications company offering staffing, outsourcing and consulting services, has been acquired by AccuStaff Incorporated, a provider of Information Technology (IT) services and one of the nation's largest staffing companies. Originally a one-person venture, the company was grown by President Peg Cheirrett to its present size of over 350 employees throughout Washington, Oregon and California. Wasser has three divisions based in downtown Seattle. Clients are primarily software, hardware, telecommunication, manufacturing and biotech companies. AccuStaff is headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla. Wasser's revenues for 1996 were approximately $15 million. AccuStaff's revenues for 1996 were approximately $2 billion.
Glumac International has added three new employees to its Portland office: Lee Fleming, David Keys and Alan Hines. Fleming is a senior electrical project manager and will lead electrical system design for health care facilities. Keys is a CAD designer and is providing HVAC design and drafting. Hines is a CAD operator.

Chase Bobko Inc. has been selected by the Washington State Attorney General's Office and a consortium of 9 other state's attorney general offices to provide computerized coding and document management for part of an estimated 25 million pages of evidence in the states' lawsuit against the tobacco industry. In addition to litigation support, the Seattle-based company provides services in software development, information design and management, Web content preparation and interactivity and Web databases.
Hansen Design Company, Seattle graphic design firm, has added Applied Microsystems to its account list. Hansen Design will assess and implement company-wide graphic standards for Applied Microsystems as well as redesign existing marketing and promotional materials and the company's Web site. Ernst & Young, a Big 6 accounting practice, has chosen Hansen Design as its consultant for a new strategic alliance with Microsoft. The alliance is creating a "global development center" called Entyron which will combine Microsoft's products with Ernst & Young's management consulting and custom application development capabilities. The center will be owned and operated by Ernst & Young and will be located near Microsoft in Bellevue.
