Mikk Sepp hasjoined the program management department of ABKJ. He has managed the design of numerous hotel, office, retail and medial facilities. Sepp is now at work on program management services for the City of SeaTac. Diane Lesley has joined the firm as a CAD technician. She is now working on Lake Stevens Elementary School and the Harrison Hospital Silverdale Healthcare Campus.
The $2.1 million renovation of the Hunter Conservatory at Whitman College in Walla Walla, designed by Boyle Wagner Architects, is now in the final stages of completion, and will be ready for classes in September. The 1910 building, originally designed by Ellis Lawrence, was for many years home to Whitman's music department. It will now house telecommunications classes and facilities. The general contractor is Opp and Seabold of Walla Walla. Design subconsultants include The Greenbusch Group, mechanical and acoustical engineering; Conlee Engineers, structural engineering; Tres West, electrical engineering; The Berger Partnership, landscape architecture; Hall Engineering Associates of Kennewick, civil engineering; Armand Marion, theater consulting; The Robinson Company, cost estimating; and Seattle Stained Glass, stained glass restoration. The firm is also at work on preschematic design for an addition to a historic Carnegie Library -- or possible new construction -- for the Sno-Isle regional library system. Boyle Wagner will soon begin the pre-design phase of a project for the Tacoma campus of the University of Washington. The firm is teamed with McGranahan Partnership and Miller/Hull for the project, which includes an addition to the library and the renovation of up to three of the historic buildings there.

Leadership Institute is accepting applications for its eight-month community leadership development program. The institute wants applicants who live or work in Redmond, Kirkland or Woodinville, are interested in community leadership, and want to learn about issues facing the Eastside. The program runs from Oct. 1 to the end of May, and includes skills development, issues awareness and personal leadership development. Tuition is $625. Howard Russell has joined Portland-based law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt's intellectual property practice group. Russell formerly served as in-house counsel for Zydigo Technologies Inc.
Oyvind Naess has rejoined Holaday-Parks as a senior engineer in the company's engineering department. Naess worked for the mechanical contractor between 1991 and 1995 before joining Alfa Tech in San Francisco. The company also announced Marty Mackenzie has joined the controls group as a field engineer, Sarah Bingham has joined the CAD group, and Susan Thrasher and Tom Jenkins have joined the administration group.
BELLEVUE -- Engineering and environmental consulting firm AGI Technologies has promoted Gary Laakso and Dani J. Schalka to vice president. Laakso is AGI's manager of remediation services and a member of AGI's board of directors. He has more than 19 years of experience managing environmental investigations and hazardous-waste cleanups. Laakso is the lead consultant on AGI's $1.5 million underground storage tank compliance contract with King County. Schalka has been with AGI since its founding in 1983. As corporate secretary, she is responsible for contract management, company policies and procedures, insurance, facilities, corporate records and treasury functions.

The Bellevue office of Technology Integration Group has contracted to provide and install a computer system for the state of Washington. TIG won the $8 million bid from the Department of Information Systems to update the computer system for all 46 Department of Social and Health Services locations.
The Walter Group, a Seattle-based telecommunications management consulting and project management firm, along with Western Wireless International and RF Communications, has been awarded a license to operate Ireland's third mobile phone system. The consortium operated under the name of Meteor Mobile Communications and will offer wireless service in the major cities of Ireland by summer 1999.
