Glumac International was named the largest combined mechanical and electrical engineering firm headquartered on the West Coast in the annual listing of "M/E Engineering Giants" by the national trade magazine Consulting-Specifying Engineer, based on mechanical and electrical billings for the 1997 fiscal year. With $13.1 million revenues from its five West Coast offices, Glumac ranked 49th overall nationally. Recently, the firm has moved its corporate headquarters to Portland from San Francisco. Glumac is planning to open offices in 1999 in San Diego and Los Angeles. The firm recently doubled the size of its Seattle office to provide mechanical, electrical and telecommunications engineering for the largest commercial project in the Puget Sound region, the 2.7 million-square-foot Lincoln Square development in Bellevue.
Tacoma-based Avue Technologies has joined in a strategic partnership with Information Management Consultants Inc., who will offer rapid deployment strategies for customers purchasing Avue's automated HR management solutions.

GreatFood.com, a Seattle-based specialty food store, has entered into an e-commerce alliance with Excite Inc., an Internet portal company. The company's web site will be featured in the gourmet and groceries department of the shopping channel on Excite, as well as in the Excite Holiday Shoppe. GreatFood.com has also joined with Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. in a marketing association to allow online subscribers a direct link to GreatFood.com where they can make purchases at a discounted price.

A conference on government takings is scheduled for Dec. 17-18 at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. Experts will discuss recent developments in the law of takings. Also on the agenda are discussions of eminent domain, public use, partial takings, development and other rights and easements as well as administrative procedures and trial practice. Doug Smith has joined Bouillon, Inc. as a project manager and mechanical engineer. He is working with the firm's biopharmaceutical group. Previously with Lockwood Green, Smith is currently working on projects for Bayer in Spokane and for Swedish Medical Center. Tom Kelleher, formerly Process Development Manager for ZymoGenetics, has also joined Bouillon. He is leading the group's development of "paperless" manufacturing systems for biopharmaceutical facilities. Don Renbarger, electrical designer, served in the facilities department for the University of Washington for 30 years. With Bouillon, he is currently providing electrical engineering services for projects at Valley Medical Center including a cogeneration plant study and Sleep Center relocation. Jim Sokol, mechanical engineer, brings to Bouillon 18 years of experience in the design of mechanical systems for industrial facilities. Previously with Chiyoda, he is currently working on projects for Swedish Medical Center. Robert Hatton, Mechanical Designer, has 30 years of experience in design of mechanical and energy systems. He is currently working on a maintenance hangar for Northwest Airlines at SeaTac International Airport.
Swenson Say Faget has added five to the staff. Scott Gilberts has joined the firm as CAD systems manager. He was previously with RSP/EQE and most recently owned his own consulting firm. Todd Valentine, a recently graduate of Florida State University, has joined the firm as a staff engineer, and will work with structural systems for custom residential and historic preservation projects. Greg Coons has joined the firm as a staff engineer. His projects include seismic analysis of the Washington State Capitol Building and the University Office Building. Andrew van Leeuwen, a graduate of Washington State University, has joined the firm as a draftsman and engineer in training. He has held positions with Olson/Sundberg Architects and with NBBJ. Mary Kay Rossman has joined Swenson Say Faget as a staff engineer. She has 11 years of experience in engineering, architecture and construction services, and formerly worked for Jacobs Engineering Group of Lake Oswego. Joseph Glaser is new project manager with Swenson Say Faget. He was recently employed by Victor Kimsey Consulting Engineers and taught engineering at the University of Washington.
Linda Allen, Alex Murillo and Matthew Brennan recently joined the engineering group in the Seattle office of Herrera Environmental Consultants. Paul Chiechlowski has joined the firm as CAD manager. Allen is an environmental engineer specializing in water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities. She was most recently with the city of Bellevue Utilities Department. Murillo has joined the firm as civil engineer. He has worked in various capacities as an engineer for the Boeing Co., the city of Tacoma and WSDOT. Brennan is an environmental engineer with expertise in surface water quality, hydrology, and stream ecology. Chiechlowski is past president and owner of a small underwater construction corporation.

Q-pharma Inc., an Edmonds-based marketer of Q-Dent antioxidant toothpaste, has added James Glavin as a member of the board of directors. Glavin is a founder and chairman of The Immune Response Corp., a California-based biopharmaceutical company.
Washington State's career guide, Plan for Tomorrow Today, has been added to an internet site through the Washington State Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board. The site has information on more than 320 occupations, where education and training is available for those occupations, and other career services.
