Van Kampen & Associates has opened an office in downtown Seattle. The law firm focuses on intellectual property, antitrust and health care legal issues. The head of the office is Al Van Kampen, a former partner at Bogle & Gates. He was that firm's key intellectual property and antitrust lawyer. The new firm will also specialize in representing physicians and handling e-commerce issues.

Norfox Software of Lynnwood was chosen by the U.S. Navy to provide its Labmate software program to Navy calibration labs around the world, replacing a variety of programs currently in use by the Navy and allowing all systems to talk to one another. Calibration labs maintain the accuracy of test and measurement equipment.
aBCD Printing, a performance-oriented commercial digital printer, recently changed its name to Reischling Press Inc. and moved to a newly purchased and renovated 20,000-square foot building at 507 Westlake Ave. N. in Seattle.

Imagio Technology Advertising and Public Relations, a Seattle-based advertising firm, recently hired Paul Rakov to lead the public relations Internet/e-commerce group; Megan McQueen as an assistant account executive; Laura Dodd as an account executive; and Stefanie Johnson as an administrative supporter. Rakov formerly served as a senior account executive at the Horn Group in San Francisco and Dodd formerly worked at Community Connections in Seattle.
Kirkland-based Confirma announced the appointment of Patricia A. Milbank, JD, RAC, as vice president for clinical and regulatory affairs. She has held director and vice president positions in legal, regulatory, clinical and quality affairs capacities at American Hospital Supply Corp., Syntex and NeoPath. Confirma is a development-stage medical device company focused on magnetic resonance data analysis software and database products.

Robert D. George was recently promoted to vice president and chief financial officer at Esterline Technologies, a Bellevue-based manufacturer of engineered products for the commercial aircraft, aerospace, and defense industries. George formerly served as treasurer and controller. Robert W. Stevenson is retiring after 31 years with Esterline.

Cierra Associates has added three new staff members to its electrical design team. Evan Springfield, senior designer, is working on a fire station in Jefferson County, numerous cell tower sites, and an expansion to Willapa Harbor Hospital near Raymond. Diane Mauer, project designer, recently completed the tenant improvement design for Washington Mutual in the Newmark Building. Jay Tilley, CAD designer, provides computer support and web page design.
Sonic Systems Corp. of Delaware, a computing, communications and intelligent transportation systems industries technology provider with offices in Seattle, recently opened a regional office in Singapore. The Singapore office will be managed by Cheng Gan, who formerly served as regional sales manager at Dynapro Technologies.
Owen Media, a Seattle-based high technology public relations agency, recently hired Salena Goudreault as an account coordinator. Goudreault formerly served as a stringer for the Irvine World News.
Scott Bourne, president of Tacoma-based Scott Bourne Photography and Digital Imaging, recently received two print merit awards at the 1999 International Print Competition and 108th Annual Exhibition of Professional Photography.
