The Portland-based law firm of Bonaparte, Elliott, Ostrander & Preston has opened a Seattle office which will be headed by Karen Wetherell Davis who will continue her practice in intellectual property, entertainment and Internet issues. She was with Koler, Fitzsimmons & Wetherell in Seattle.
Xypoint Corp. of Seattle and Wireless Services Corp. of Bellevue announced the two companies have formed a technology alliance to provide e-businesses with secure services linking wireless phones with the Internet. The privately held companies, led by former McCaw Cellular and Microsoft executives, are developing a secure technology platform called WebWireless, which will enable consumers to conduct high-value transactions through Internet-based businesses. It will be available in the fourth quarter of this year.

Cheryl Hawley has joined the team of instructors at Netdesk Corp. in Seattle as a Microsoft certified trainer. She was an NT LAN administrator/senior GIS technician at Champion Pacific Timberlands. Netdesk is a training center for advanced Microsoft technology.

PeakSoft Multinet, located at http://www.peak.com, a Bellingham-based provider of Internet communication solutions, announced the appointment of Rocky Botts as creative director and Steve Minor as project director. Botts has over 15 years of creative marketing experience. Minor has over 20 years of experience and is the founder and president of Waterfront Associates in Seattle. PeakSoft Multinet recently launched an online business community to offer small business users a Web site for gathering and sharing critical information.

Point2 Internet Systems, Inc., a Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Internet technology provider for the heavy-equipment industry, has entered a joint venture with Bid.Com International to provide marketing and information services to manufacturers, dealers and buyers of heavy equipment. Bid.Com is an online auction sales organization with proprietary technology. Its offices are in Toronto and Tampa, Fla.

Kate Chan has been hired as Microsoft sales specialist at Netdesk Corp., a Seattle-based certification and training center for advanced Microsoft applications. Chan will be working with state government, The Boeing Co. and employment agencies. Prior to joining Netdesk, she was an employment consultant at Business Management Services in Bellevue.
Jason Tyer has been named director of sales and marketing for DataLink Concepts, an Internet development company based in Seattle. Previously, Tyer was development manager for local exchange service at International Telcom in Seattle.
