RealNetworks

RealNetworks, a Seattle-based provider of media delivery on the Internet, announced that Richard Cohen will be joining the company as a senior vice president, overseeing media delivery service initiatives for the company, including the Real Broadcast Network. Cohen joins RealNetworks after more than six years at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, where he served as president of home entertainment and consumer products.

ServiceStop

Service Stop, a Seattle-based company providing Web-based employee incentive programs, has appointed Victor Cooper general manager of its new office in New York City. Cooper is responsible for establishing and managing the company's vendor relations and customer base in addition to expanding the company's New York team. The New York office is the company's third, including Seattle and San Francisco.

Berger/ABAM, a civil and structural engineering firm has promoted several employees in its Federal Way office.

Michelle Tragesser was recently promoted to grade IV senior engineer. Since joining the firm five years ago, she has primarily supported the public works department with various bridge facilities projects. Her most recent assignments include engineering services for ground access and seismic improvement projects at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Mithendra "Mickey" Dutt has been promoted to CAD III operator. He has been a member of the company's multidiscipline drafting department for three years. Dutt has over 17 years of manual and computer-aided drafting and design experience, and has worked with various Department of Defense agencies.

Lana Do has been promoted to senior accounting clerk. She has been with the company's accounting department for over two years and has 10 years of accounting and data processing experience.

Washington State University

Washington State University is one of six institutions receiving National Science Foundation funds to help improve Internet services to low-income, rural and inner-city Americans. The National Science Foundation is funding a three-year grant of more than $4 million for the Advanced Internet Satellite Extension Project. The project is being coordinated through the American Distance Education Consortium, a distance education consortium based at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Scott Fedale, chair of the information department for the College of Agriculture and Home Economics, and Tony Wright, the department's computer resource coordinator, are heading up WSU's participation.

James G. Murphy Co.

James G. Murphy has been inducted into the National Auctioneers Hall of Fame. Murphy established the James G. Murphy Co. in Seattle in 1970 and it has grown into one of the largest commercial and industrial auction companies in the United States, conducting more than 90 no-minimum-bid auctions each year in the western U.S. Items include contractors' equipment, vehicles, boats, aircraft, computers, real estate and office furniture. He was director of purchasing for a large construction company before starting his auction company.

NeoInformatics

NeoInformatics, Seattle-based creator of interactive Web content and technology, announced the appointment of Rodney Eaton to senior vice president and Chief Financial Officer. Eaton was vice president of finance at Resource Group International.
