SEATTLE — The 2015 Grammy-nominated soul singer Bettye LaVette plays May 12 through 15 at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley with bluesman Walter “Wolfman” Washington and his band opening each show.
Elvis Costello called LaVette “one of R&B's greatest under-acknowledged vocalists,” and Bonnie Raitt said she is “a force of nature,” with a voice that is rough, tender, sensuous and soaring. She has been recording for more than 40 years. Joining her will be Alan Hill (keys/vocals), Brett Lucas (guitar/vocals), James Simonson (bass/vocals) and Darryl Pierce (drums)/percussion).
Wolfman Washington has been an icon on the New Orleans music scene for decades.
Show times are Thursday through Sunday at 7:30 p.m. For tickets and information go to www.jazzalley.com.
