Landau Associates hired Stephanie Renando as an environmental technician in Edmonds. In Seattle, it hired Seethu Babu as a senior engineer and Christel Olsen and Jeffery Whitman as senior staff engineers. Renando has a background in water quality monitoring. Babu has over nine years of experience in hydrology analysis, stormwater treatment design and low-impact development treatment design. Olsen is in the permitting and compliance group. She has a background in aquatic chemical and biological waste water treatment, and redox behavior in drinking water. Whitman is in the geotechnical group. Edmonds-based Landau Associates provides geotechnical and environmental engineering, remediation, permitting and compliance services.

Luma, an architectural lighting design division of engineering firm PAE, hired lighting designers Shaun P. Darragh and Scott Kuyper in Seattle. Darragh has over 20 years as an architectural lighting designer, daylighting and sustainability specialist, and lighting control system consultant. He has worked on projects worldwide. Kuyper has 10-plus years of experience in lighting and design, working on institutional, commercial and mixed-use developments in Europe.

Hart Crowser hired Matt Smith as a hydrogeologist in the Seattle office. In Portland, it hired Rachel Pirot as an engineering geologist, Kaylan Smyth as an environmental engineer, and Melisa Schweitzer as a CAD drafter and GIS and geotechnical engineering software specialist. Smith served in the U.S. Navy and has a master's in geology from East Carolina University. He is working on environmental site assessments, ground-penetrating radar surveys, soil sampling, aquifer testing and low-flow groundwater sampling. Pirot served in the Air Force and has a master's in geology from Portland State University. She has worked on landslide, transportation and debris flow projects. She will support forestry, rockfall and transportation projects. Smyth holds a bachelor's in environmental engineering from the University of Oregon. He has worked on water supply projects from Portland to Beijing, and did abandoned mine remediation for the Forest Service. Schweitzer has 22 years of experience. She will support environmental remediation, habitat restoration and geotechnical projects. Hart Crowser is an environmental and engineering consulting firm, with offices also in Edmonds, Vancouver, Anchorage and Honolulu.

Seattle-based architectural firm Graphite Design Group promoted Patrick DiStefano to principal and hired Karen Campbell as a senior interior designer and market leader. DiStefano has been with Graphite since 2012, and was previously a senior project manager with Gensler in Seattle. He will help lead expansion of the office and mixed-use studio. Campbell will launch the corporate interiors practice. She has over 23 years of experience in Seattle designing and managing projects and interior design teams, starting with B&OI in 1991 and most recently with JPC Architects in Bellevue.

Freiheit & Ho Architects hired Andrea Losekann and Mike Langston as intern architects. Losekann has more than 15 years of architectural experience with firms in Seattle and Brazil, with knowledge of design, code analysis and permitting and research. She is a certified Sustainable Building Advisor. Langston has seven years of design and project management experience in residential, mixed-use retail, industrial office and government projects. They will join a team that works on retail, restaurant and mixed-use projects. The firm provides architectural and interior design services.

Thorne

In Portland, ESA Vigil-Agrimis hired Colin Thorne as senior river scientist working on wetland, estuary and riverine habitat restoration, and Darlene Siegel as senior aquatic and fisheries biologist. Thorne holds a Ph.D. and has 40 years of experience in environmental sciences, civil engineering and physical geography. He is a visiting professor at Tsinghua University in Beijing, and a faculty affiliate at Portland State University. He has worked on international and Northwest river projects. Siegel has nearly two decades of experience in aquatic habitat restoration projects, and has worked with governments, nonprofits, watershed councils and conservation groups. She will help develop restoration solutions. ESA Vigil-Agrimis is an environmental consulting firm based in San Francisco.

Railroad designer Jonathan Mueller joined the Seattle office of Hanson Professional Services. He will work on railway and telecommunications infrastructure. Mueller was an intern in the office and worked on product development for 3M Co. in Minnesota. He has a bachelor's in physics, a master's in mechanical engineering and a doctorate in civil engineering. Hanson is a national consulting firm providing engineering, planning and allied services.

DCI Engineers

DCI Engineers promoted Kris Swanson as principal in the Austin office, which he helped launch six years ago. DCI said Swanson has partnerships with regional clients and has been with the firm for 10 years. The Seattle-based civil and structural engineering firm also has offices in Spokane, Portland, Eugene, San Diego, Irvine, San Francisco and Anchorage.
