Shotwell

The law firm Dorsey & Whitney added Charles Shotwell as a senior attorney in the National Security Group to advise clients on U.S. export control and embargo matters. Shotwell worked at the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, U.S. Department of State, and also worked in the U.S. Department of Defense. He is a retired U.S. Air Force officer and staff judge advocate.

Snohomish County PUD

Snohomish County Public Utility District Board will vote on naming Craig Collar as CEO/general manager on Aug. 25. Collar has been assistant general manager of power, rates and transmission management since fall 2012. Collar replaces Steve Klein, who retired this spring. Craig was employed at Kimberly-Clark for 16 years and served in the Navy as a nuclear submarine officer.

Point B Inc., a management consulting and venture investment firm, named Peter LaSalle vice president of business development to lead the national sales team. He is a 15-year veteran of Oracle and PeopleSoft.

Coastal Hotel Group

Coastal Hotel Group, a Seattle-based hotel hospitality management company, hired Bradley Walker as senior vice president of marketing. Walker's career began at Alaska Airlines where became a member of the commercial strategy team and led the in-house tour company, Alaska Airlines Vacations. He also worked for Travel Holdings, a travel distribution company, and was chair of VisitSeattle.

Clipper Navigation

After nearly 30 years, Janis Smith, Clipper's vice president of sales and marketing, is leaving in October. Smith was hired in 1986 as the company's first employee. She will help search for a new senior executive. Clipper provides transportation, tours and accommodation packages in the northwestern U.S. and Canada.

Workforce Development Council

The Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County got a $90,000 award from Bank of America for the Youth at Work Summer Employment Program, which sponsors jobs for youth ages 14 to 24 to develop skills and assist employers. Funding will cover paid internships for 45 youth at a variety of worksites, with an emphasis on high-growth industry sectors.

Bartell Drugs

Seattle-based Bartell Drugs named Steven Frestedt vice president of marketing. He will supervise marketing in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties. Frestedt was marketing director for Bartell.

Homestead CLT, a community land trust, has made changes to its senior management team. Erika Malone, formerly community engagement director, is now director of stewardship and homeowner engagement. Cheryl Stumbo joined as director for philanthropy and communications, and Graydon Manning is director of real estate development. Homestead is a nonprofit focused on creating and preserving homeownership for modest-income people. It is the only Seattle-based CLT and the largest CLT in Washington state.

Itron

Itron, Inc. of Liberty Lake named Tom Deitrich executive vice president and chief operating officer. He has more than 20 years of experience in global operations at tech firms, including Freescale Semiconductor, Sony Ericsson Mobile and General Electric. Deitrich succeeds John Holleran as COO.

Cairncross & Hempelmann

Cairncross & Hempelmann named Matt Hanna managing partner, succeeding Steve VanDerhoef, who served as managing partner since 2012 and has completed his term. Hanna is a real estate principal and former chief financial officer of the firm. VanDerhoef is now the firm's strategy partner.
