Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker

Attorney Jason Wandler of Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker was named a "Rising Star" by Washington Law & Politics Magazine. To identify Rising Stars, the magazine asked the top 5 percent of the Bar Association membership in Washington to vote for the best attorneys they have observed in action who are either age 40 or under or who have been practicing 10 years or less. Wandler represents general contractors and subcontractors in public and private construction projects. Oles Morrison is based in Seattle.

Andersen Construction Co.

Seattle's Andersen Construction Co. hired Paul Hackett, Jaime Puracal and Alec Thomas in its Special Projects Group. Hackett, a project manager, is a nine-year local construction veteran. Puracal and Thomas are project engineers. Puracal has been in the industry for five years.

Veca Green

Dan Fairbanks was appointed head of Veca Green in Seattle, and Chris Fryer was appointed sales and marketing associate. Fairbanks has worked with several startup companies and holds a bachelor's degree from the Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University. Fryer has experience in sales and media marketing, helped several Internet startups and co-directed a feature film. He grew up working in the residential construction industry. Veca Green specializes in energy retrofits.

ARTBA-TDF

Two Northwest safety initiatives were recognized at the American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation's 12th annual Roadway Work Zone Safety Awareness Awards in Pittsburgh. CH2M Hill won an award for its Work Zone Safety Matters campaign to reduce job site accidents, injuries and fatalities. The campaign included a toolkit for employees nationwide and hosted the American Traffic Safety Services National Work Zone Memorial with the Washington State Department of Transportation. The Idaho Department of Transportation, Connecting Idaho Partners JV and The Langdon Group won an award for their efforts to notify travelers at the Boise Airport of ongoing construction activity on nearby Interstate 84. The partners created an information kiosk near the baggage claim area that had computer-animated simulations of the construction projects and how motorists should drive through the work zones.

Karen J. Mask became a member of Project Dimensions' advisory board. Mask previously was CEO and president of KJM & Associates. Project Dimensions is a project and construction management firm headquartered in Kirkland. It provides project controls services to owners, architects, engineers and contractors.

Tonella
Paul Tonella, a partner with the law firm Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker of Seattle, joined the board of directors and the Educational Committee of the Puget Sound Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association. Tonella represents closely held companies in their corporate management, succession planning, tax, real property and general business needs. Prior to becoming an attorney, he worked for Boeing Commercial Airplanes and the Internal Revenue Service. He holds a law degree from the University of Washington.

Cascade Windows

Solari
Cascade Windows, a vinyl window and patio door manufacturer, hired Ryan Solari as territory manager for the San Francisco Bay Area. Solari has several years of building products sales experience in the Bay Area. He lives in Santa Clara and is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University. Cascade makes its products in Spokane, Portland and Salt Lake City.

Monroe's Canyon Creek Cabinet Co. added three regional sales representatives — Rick Bickel, Larry Harkleroad and Lee Hanson — to service existing areas and to expand into new geographic territories. Bickel is based in Jeffersonville, Ind., and his territory is southern Indiana, southern Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee. Harkleroad is based in Syracuse, Ind., and his territory is northern Illinois, northern Indiana, northern Ohio and Michigan. Hanson is based in Helena, Mont., and his territory is Montana, along with the Canadian regions of eastern British Columbia, Alberta and western Saskatchewan.

Hartung Glass Industries

Hartung Glass Industries bought Holcam Sales, a Seattle-based bath and shower enclosure manufacturer. Holcam continues to operate under its own name, with Rick Wenala remaining as the company's general manager. Wenala has been with Holcam for 28 years. Seattle-based Hartung, the parent company of Agalite Shower and Bath Enclosures, is a glass fabricator. A company press release says Hartung has a mission of controlled growth and increased presence as a leading supplier of fabricated glass products on the West Coast.

West Coast Lumber Inspection Bureau

Donald A. DeVisser on July 1 will become acting executive vice president of the West Coast Lumber Inspection Bureau in Portland. DeVisser is replacing Brad Shelley, who is retiring after 33 years at the bureau. DeVisser holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Michigan State University and an MBA from Portland State University. He is a registered engineer in Oregon. The bureau is a not-for-profit service organization benefiting consumers and producers of lumber.

KBA Inc.

Seattle Business Magazine named construction management firm KBA Inc. one of the 2010 “100 Best Companies to Work For.” The awards honor Washington firms with outstanding leadership, work environment and employee satisfaction. Bellevue-based KBA was ranked 21st in the Small Companies division and was one of four engineering firms on the list. Kris Betty is KBA's president.
